Marmol has 2 losing seasons in 3 years. Matheny won every year - and we are keeping Marmol.

No, but it helps. The catcher is the on field captain and certainly his dedication and toughness was respected by the players.

Matheny VS Ollie. I am taking Matheny in a heartbeat.
In view of what we have seen the last few years, I have had to reexamine the Matheny Years.
I view his tenure a bit more favorably than I did previously.
