I honestly think about this a lot.

I'm in my early 50s, so I grew up in the 100% pre-internet era. The internet has not only amplified the voices of miserable people, but it's also amplified the voices of complete [fork]ing idiots. Back in the day, idiots were viewed as idiots...people ignored them, and they would slink back to wherever they came from. They didn't have a voice, and they were rightfully ignored.

Now we're all forced to listen to them all the time, and even worse, the internet provides them with an endless supply of idiocy and [nonsense] to feed on, so they get dumber and dumber through time. The worst thing we can do is respond to them, but sometimes it's too hard to resist. I try to keep that in mind at all times, however. It reminds me of the not-so-old adage: "Arguing with someone online is like playing chess against a pigeon...even if you win, the pigeon struts around like he won and sh**s all over the board."

Anyway, rant over, I feel better now. Back to hockey. LGB!!

This is exactly how I feel! My kids (who are full grown adults) deal with this cr*p all the time and have a much better feel for how the Internet in general treats other people. It can be extremely unpleasant.
