Well, let’s look at this:ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑25 Oct 2025 21:50 pmThe 2025 team was 6 games under .500 and 19 games out of first place. The question regarding Marmol is what role he played in the failure. Given that Matheny was fired after never having a losing season tells me ownership has lowered standards.ecleme22 wrote: ↑25 Oct 2025 21:18 pmPythagorean….ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑25 Oct 2025 20:51 pmOrdinarily wins and losses determine how good a manager is. 2023:
Cards record: 71-91
Pyth: 71-91
2024
CR: 83-79
P: 76-86
2025:
CR: 78-84
P: 74-88
The last two seasons, the cards have overachieved.
You really think the the 2025 team was good. They weren’t great in 2024, lost two pitchers, gained only Maton
I suppose you could see it that way but I'm not sure maintaining the status quo qualifies as a "move". It's a decision not to make a move.Dicktar2023 wrote: ↑25 Oct 2025 22:25 pmThe first move of the Bloom era was keeping Marmol. That much should be clear, right?ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑24 Oct 2025 12:18 pm https://x.com/Feinsand/status/1979198126574522710
Joe McEwing is out.
Matheny spent 20 days in an intensive care unit, where he was diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that involves bleeding in the brainecleme22 wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 00:18 amWell, let’s look at this:ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑25 Oct 2025 21:50 pmThe 2025 team was 6 games under .500 and 19 games out of first place. Has Matheny been offered a managerial role in that time?
So does that make him ineligible for any mlb role?ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 06:28 amMatheny spent 20 days in an intensive care unit, where he was diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that involves bleeding in the brainecleme22 wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 00:18 amWell, let’s look at this:ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑25 Oct 2025 21:50 pmThe 2025 team was 6 games under .500 and 19 games out of first place. I would think so and I don't know why he would want to risk his health to do it.ecleme22 wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 10:00 amSo does that make him ineligible for any mlb role?ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 06:28 amMatheny spent 20 days in an intensive care unit, where he was diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that involves bleeding in the brainecleme22 wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 00:18 amWell, let’s look at this:ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑25 Oct 2025 21:50 pmThe 2025 team was 6 games under .500 and 19 games out of first place.
