The boos and then the cheer for Binnington. Was a ugly thing to see.
They should be booing the guy who is playing yahtzee with the line up
I’d rather he mix up the lines than keep them together for far too long like Berube did.
They need to get their star players playing like stars if they want to make the playoffs. Otherwise they may as well just waive the dead fat players and call up Dvorsky and Kaskimaki to start getting acclimated to NHL life.

What are you seeing in DD that makes you believe he is the answer? It’s not like he’s tearing up Springfield. 4 games, 1 point, -2.

It’s a cardinal-esque signal they aren’t trying to compete this year. He’s more lost than shaky Jakey Allen ever was. He needs to be in the AHL tonight. We can’t keep throwing points away when binner sits.
We just signed him to a 3 year extension, keeping him on the team isn't an indication of anything.
Before these past 2 home games he's been incredibly solid. For whatever reason that pass from the behind the net to Mikhayev seems to have really rattled him because he's been terrible ever since.
There's no way that Ian Cole goal should ever happen in an NHL game.
He's allowed 10 goals on his last 28 shots faced for a .643 save percentage. I mean that's a serious issue and I don't know if it is currently just a home issue or this might be an all year issue, but you don't ban him to the AHL because of two starts.

I wish he would start thinking about lines, instead of pairs.
Lines need to play their style. Hard to do when the third has a whole different game, at a whole different level.

Yeah I mean what do we judge him on? The last 2 games? Or the 70 before that where he was pretty clearly a NHL-caliber goalie?

Maybe just don't give him half the starts right now
This.
The loss tonight is on Monty. No reason whatsoever to go back to Hofer right now. Terrible decision.
100%, Binner has played 3 really solid games in a row all while most of the Blues key forwards have not been producing. More pressure for Hofer at home and he will get a start after the Wings game on Saturday with a back to back.
His decision to put LM back in is just a puzzling. Kessler looked good filing in and if you insist on starting Hofer, you sure as hell don’t put LM back in too!
Yeah Hofer looks really slow reacting and not solid basics. Stick not down, gap on the post, …etc. I’d be inclined to send him to Springfield and let him work on his game. Call up anyone. It sucks that Ellis is gone.

As was noted earlier in this thread, do you really think he passes through waivers unclaimed ? Slow start notwithstanding. Is Zherenko or Romanov ready to play meaningful minutes and spell Binnington?

The 70 without a doubt. I don't know if all of a sudden he is getting the yips at home, but he needs to put his big boy pants on because he's a far better goaler than we've seen these past 2 starts.
He likely gets a start on the road and if he puts in a stellar start then obviously he has a little bit of a mental issue at home he needs to get over. If he plays like this on the road, then might be time to sit him for a little bit until he gets a lot of work Alexander and gets right.

Something is wrong with Joel, it seems to be mental. Almost like his switch got flipped, sudden and total power outage. I think you give him a start on the road and if it happens again he may need to get sent down.

Seven years ago Jake Allen went through a terrible slump which was worse than this one for Hofer. Jake recovered and is still in the league at age 35 (he is 3-0 this year). They will work with Hofer and get through this. There is no other option.
Binnington will get most or all the starts until Hofer can get his game back. This may be the first slump of Joel's career, so it may take a while. It happens to all athletes at one point or another, but he has the talent to get through this and beyond.
