It would demonstrate how much the league needs real revenue sharing and some kind of cap/floor like the NFL.
A Toronto win would give comfort and ammunition to the Dodgers and Yankees et. al. Their supporters would argue that everything is fine and no change is needed.
Dodgers in 5.
I'll up the ante.
Dodgers in 4 and they blast the feathers off the Blue Jays. I have no dislike of Toronto and they're deserving of a win, but simply to amplify the first line of your post.
Grew up in STL so always a Cards fan. Lived in Canada for the last 36 years and am dual citizen.... Hate the AL due the to DH, but now it is everywhere..... Hate LA and NY on principle:) Canadians of course, are pulling for the Jays... Although I live in BC and a number of friends are M's fans and are bummed. But they will all pull for the Jays to beat LA. My heart wants the Jays to win. My head says LA in about 6 games. We shall see. Just hope for good baseball. The Jays - M's series was really good. Hopefully the Jays give the Dodgers a good run for their money.

The Dodgers will be favorites to win the series, but I hope Toronto wins. I was familiar with Springer, Guerrero, Kirk, and Varsho - but the lesser known players like Clement and Barger have been impressive. Looks like Bo Bichette will be able to play in the WS, and this could be huge. Toronto will need some big games from Gausman, Yesavage, and Bieber. Toronto has the home advantage, and they need to win the first two games in Canada. Blue Jays in 7!
I hope you are right! If the Dodgers' pitching Big Four is nearly as good as they were last round, I can't see the Jays winning more than 1.
The only downside of Bichette is his horrible defense at shortstop - dead last in DRS among SS with over his 1100 innings. He has a DRS of -12 (-13 OAA) this year and -19 career DRS (-32 OAA). He needs to find a new position in the future but you wish they could DH him.

This is very close to what mlb thinks is good for baseball..
I'll bite.
Why does Major league baseball think the status quo is good for baseball?
Revenue……
Clubs like the Dodgers, Yankees, Cubs are not only huge markets…they have a national following..
Toronto has their entire country….
Series involving these types of clubs will have large ratings, justifying the hundreds of millions of dollars FOX pays on their mlb deal
(According to sports media, it’s over 700)
You think Fox is going to pay 700 million to show Pittsburgh against Minnesota?
It makes sense , but only in the short term. I don't think the league can survive if more than half the teams have little or no chance of winning. And in the long term, they'll be playing to a smaller and smaller fan base. Eventually, no one will pay to show even the Yanks vs the Dodgers.

Toronto had the 5th largest payroll in baseball this year, but yeah, they’re still almost $100million lower than LA.
As much as MLB needs it, I don’t see them getting a salary cap + revenue sharing implemented. They just don’t rock the boat much when they’re still making huge profits.
Well the baseball season has finally come to this. LAD and Toronto. One a given, one a mild surprise.
All the thoughts ideas and banter here on CT, all comes down to the next 4-7 games, of two distant competitors.
Who ya got. Will-
- Dodgers pitching remain tough. If so, five games LA. If LA can have two mediocre games from their staff, Toronto may steal two games, especially on a hitting day.
Defense and base running about even. Pens. As usual, this will decide games. Can Toronto get into LA’s pen? Can Tornado win two pen games.
I say, no way, it goes seven. LA in six.
Either way some people are going to be whining. A Canadian team and a California team. LOL I expect the Dodgers will outlast Toronto but who knows in baseball.
