Does anyone know what exactly has caused his late season uptick in K's? He was looking like a future back of the rotation innings eater ceiling but something changed and he unlocked some dominance.
The bloom effect
Spot on and he’s not the only one. Recent write up in the Post about Brycen Mautz and how this new regime turned him around.
Did it? What I read was Mautz did it himself.
"Anderson said Mautz deserves the credit for his determination to better himself during the last offseason. Anderson said he did a double-take when Mautz pitched for the first time in spring training and took notice of the results."
bull[shirt]. All his coaches and mangers are 3 years with the Cards. Long before Bloom.
So why couldn’t those same coaches and managers get those results from him before this year? Cut his WIP from 1.45 in 2024 to 1.10 in 2025. Did all of those guys suddenly “figure something out?” Answer, he!! no.
Nice try little man.
You're giving credit to Bloom when these people have been here
You can't fix stupid
Yes, these people have been here and look at the results. Mautz hasn’t peed a drop in this organization under their guidance.
New minor league leadership arrives. New technology, new ideas. Pierpont comes from Seattle where they are flush with pitching talent.
Mautz does a 180 performance-wise this year and you try to credit the old regime??
No, you can’t fix stupid and you are the CEO of that organization.

Springfield has a LOT of good Chinese restaurants!!!!
A lot of the time, pitchers of Lin’s size, struggle to throw strikes initially. Take Randy Johnson for instance. Let’s hope Lin figures it out sooner than Randy did, and is at least half as good as him as well.

No, here’s the playbook that Mo executed:
- sell the fans on “the Cardinal Way.” You know, we draft and develop our players. Teach ‘em to play the right way.
- slash minor league coaching staff during Covid. Don’t re-hire and run a bare bones operation at the minor league level. So much so that, by the end of 2024, the Brewers have 17 minor league instructors to the Cardinals 5. Draft and develop? Not so much.
-Brewers win 3 straight NL Central championships.
-Bloom regime takes over minor league operations in 2025 and young guys make progress.

- MO apologists butt hurt.
It wasn't MO's decision to cut the development staff in the minors. The Dewitts said cut payroll or cut spending elsewhere after covid. This is 100% on the Dewitts

You say they told him “cut payroll or cut spending somewhere else.” So he did have a choice.
He chose to cut the very thing that he and the Dewitts said was special about the Cardinals: drafting and developing players the “ Cardinal Way.”
He was the POBO. Can’t run and hide from. IMO, betrayal of trust with your fans. He needs to own it.

Ah, so you find the “little man” reference gross? Hey, if you have something more appropriate for someone who attempts to mock other posters with the juvenile laugh emojis and then doubles down with the name calling, then I’m all ears. Otherwise, someone who can’t make their argument without resorting to junior high bully tactics has earned little man status.

Uh no. The person I quoted is the person to whom I was speaking.
