Maybe for some.

He's what the team has needed for years a productive corner OF who hits RH.

Wanting to stay a Dodger is fine but it doesn't change the need for such a player.
Also, the Dodgers signed him for one year after 2023. He was available then.

I look forward to these what-might-have-been posts every time someone has a nice game.

btw, Hernandez turns 33 today. Happy Birthday, Teoscar!

I guess you missed my post about 33 HRs and 99 RBIs and 3.4 fWAR in 2024 while on a 1-year deal for $23 million with $8 million deferred. And his 25 HRs and 89 RBIs this year. The Dodgers have gotten a lot of value already, and he's only under contract for 2 more years.

And I guess you just ignore his postseason stardom at a wRC+ of 138 with 9 HRs and 26 RBIs in 28 games. This is not about a "nice game." Stick to being dumb on football.

Nice. Also typical.

If Hernandez hadn't shone in the Brewers series so far, you would have found another player to play what-if with. You probably will anyway.

I guess you missed my post about acquiring him a couple of years ago when he became available.

If you’re going to make blanket statements at least know what you're talking about and who you are speaking to.

No one is going to build a team around Teoscar Hernandez. If the Cardinals had signed him they would still be in the same situation......TH is not the type of player to carry a franchise and in LA he doesn't have to.
I agree. Hernandez would be another Marcell Ozuna here.

Jordan Walker, Victor Scott, Lars Nootbar, Michael Siani, Teoscar Hernandez. Who would you prefer be our LF?

Now making $66 million on a subsequent 3-year deal this year with the Dodgers. He has had a lot of big hits and HRs for LA.

Now maybe he wouldn't have signed with the Cardinals in the 2023-24 offseason. But did the Cardinals even make a run at him?
This assumes the Cardinals would get the same performance as the Dodgers. Cardinals would change his swing to match what the analytics computer tells them to do and he would be another Walker.

You are getting owned. Give it up. I have brought up Hernandez before. And he won a game in the previous series against the Phillies with a 3-run homer. And he has had previous success in the postseason. And you implied the Dodgers weren't getting value. Yes they have.

And no, I wouldn't have brought up anybody else because anybody else wouldn't be a power hitting corner OF who is RH. Get a clue about context. And you are the one with what-ifs about some other posts somebody might make. Talk about a hypocrite.

I guess I did or else I saw it and forgot about it. My apologies.

Signing the 2024 Teoscar would have been a catch. 2025 version, not so much. 2026, tbd.

Get a clue about context.
Here's some context for you. Busch is hard on RH power guys, while Chavez Ravine is friendly. Your assumption that Hernandez would dupe his 2024 power numbers if lifted up and set down in StL ignores that fact. I'm not sure any of us would have enjoyed his 2025 season as a Card. We'll have to see about 2026.

I like Teoscar. You're right that he's having a stand-out post-season and has had others, although he wasn't much last year. Where I get off is bringing up the hot guy as one that got away. I look forward to your view of Josh Naylor.

Average it out. 29 HRs, 94 RBIs the last 2 years as he had 25 HRs and 89 RBIs this year. Not too shabby with an ISO of .207 and a SLG of .454 this year. And so far this postseason, he has 4 HRs and 10 RBIs in 8 games covering 36 PAs. That is a productive player and a money player. The Dodgers are getting value.

Your earlier derision puts you in a league with Scouty. You must be proud.

Hernandez had 3 HRs and 12 RBIs in 16 postseason games last year. That's pretty good production. And I don't give a s*** about Naylor. He's not a power-hitting RH corner OF that the Cardinals have needed. Nice attempted deflection.

And I brought Hernandez up when he was a FA after 2023.

RBIs are a function of the team...people on base. I cited facts that showed he doesn't walk or get on base and is horrible at defense and a less than 2WAR player...facts. the horrah

He's one of those players who is a lot more valuable than his WAR shows, because he does something we need so badly - hits for power from the OF.

Also he hits in the playoffs. People constantly underestimate the value of playoff experience, yet that is one of the biggest reasons the Dodgers are dominating.
LMAO...1.5 WAR...replacement level

Doesn't get on base, doesn't walk, doesn't steal bases, plays bad defense...are you a chick?
That must be bWAR. His fWAR in 2025 was 0.6. 8O
His fWAR in 2024, his first year with the Dodgers, was 3.4, his wRC+ was 132 , and he hit 33 HRs and had 99 RBIs. And even in a down year this year, he had 25 HRs and 89 RBIs. And he slugged .501 and .454 the last 2 years, something the Cardinals were sorely lacking at.

But postseason is where he has really shined. In 28 games, he has 9 HRs and 26 RBIs. And a wRC+ of 138.

I guess that would not be good enough for the Cardinals, according to some on this forum.
I think the issue is post season shining. That’s like he excels in the Martian league. We don’t play there…
