lol keep telling yourself that if you want to put blinders on and try to comfort yourself. The fact is the 2006 team was a great team that had injuries that hurt their record during the regular season their best players were literally called the MV3 and they had a hall of fame manager. The 2011 team had multiple great players in the line up and completely changed the team at the deadline fixing every weakness they had oh and had a hall of fame manager.CCard wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 22:12 pmThe fact is you can't win if you don't get in. But only 2 teams won more than 94 games. Brewers had the best record with only 97 wins, way down from the best teams of the past few years. And the Reds got in with only 83 wins. And Cleveland won their division with only 88 wins (yet the 87 win Tigers won the first series over them). So yeah, I still think anything can happen for at least a series or two, which is certainly worth the extra ticket sales and fandom generated.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 11:07 am While true, it's worth noting that all four remaining teams actually won their division, and all four teams amassed at least 90 wins.
There is more parity than ever in the regular season.

Since the introduction of the Wild Card in 1995, seven teams have won the World Series as Wild Card entries: the Florida Marlins (1997, 2003), the Anaheim Angels (2002), the Boston Red Sox (2004), the St. Louis Cardinals (2011), the San Francisco Giants (2014), the Washington Nationals (2019), and the Texas Rangers (2023). Additionally, there have been instances where Wild Card teams reached the World Series, with a total of 16 teams achieving this feat.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 22:17 pmlol keep telling yourself that if you want to put blinders on and try to comfort yourself. The lowest-seeded team to win the World Series is the 1997 Florida Marlins, who entered the playoffs as a wild card. Additionally, the 2005 Chicago White Sox and the 2014 San Francisco Giants also won championships as lower-seeded

Wild card teams are generally there to provide a better team with a competitive game. Mere fodder. Occasionally they win. In general, all sports, generally one of the final teams is a beast.
