Totally logical and what many of us have been saying for months.

Donny is C. Bloom's best trade chip to bring back a young (#3) MLB starting pitcher if coupled w/a catcher (Pages/Pozo?) or a prospect.

Noot should fetch a solid prospect, POBO/GM's all over MLB love his "metrics" and would pay a decent price to land him.

Hate to see Donny go, but it's likely to happen.

Keep an eye on the Dodgers and Yankees.

Why trade a player who’s an excellent example to the younger guys coming up? Doesn’t make sense. Measure the intangibles lost, not just another body (with promise) coming in.

BD will be a FA in 2028.
BD's trade value is good.

Don't worry, the young guys can live without Donovan. We have a whole league of young players thriving without Donovan. LOL

Being an excellent example isn’t enough. Any one can be a role model.

If you want better, gotta give up some good. With JJ coming, Donovan can be moved.

Me personally I’d put Donovan at third.

Every team needs a veteran example to follow. Especially someone who shows them how to prepare mentally and physically for a long major league season. If it’s not Donovan, whom many refer to as a leader, whom do you propose, Ecleme?

I personally would offer Donovan some type of 5 year deal, maybe 55-65M range. If it would cost more than that then go ahead trade him.

Cranny you can’t just designate someone a “leader”. And if Donovan is a leader, he sure didn’t help prevent the silly baserunnng mistakes. Nor did he help prevent outfielders throwing to the wrong base. Not did he help prevent the clueless approaches at the plate by so many Cardinals.

I like Donovan. But if he can help bring back a player Bloom believes will help the club more then he should be traded.

Other leaders will emerge regardless of whether Donovan is here or not.

It’s not like the gorman and walker and and Scott and church are thriving under the great leadership of Donovan they can suck just as bad without him

So according to you:
1. This veteran example is VERY important.
2. Donovan is the ONLY only one the MLB roster that exhibits this.
3. And Bloom is unaware of the importance of this veteran example and how Donovan plays such an ESSENTIAL role, despite being in the FO for two years.

Hmm....

I’m not designating Donovan as a leader. Others have. It’s pretty much common knowledge. Lot of articles have been written about it. Not just anyone can step into that role.

Totally agree Donny is both a team leader & an asset.

BUT

He's also slated to make $5.5-6M in ARB and has two years left of team control before hitting FA and big money.

His versatility, low salary and two years of control make the All-Star SUP a great trade chip!

He turns 29 years old and will hit free agency at 31 yrs old as the team should be on track to be a contender again.

100% you listen, I think he's likely dealt.

JMO

Noot can go to LA, where he can be the bag man for Ohtani's bets.
