It all depends on his off season and performance in spring training. If Bloom acquires another OF in the off season, that will be factored in as well.

Agreed. Plus, I think DG may be trying to help the Cards keep his value up. I suspect that the Cards think that JW is toast, and we want someone to take him for more than a pouch of big league chew in return.

Gould's opinion doesn't mean sh*t but if that's in fact the Cardinals' thinking, I hope they just trade the kid, although if that happens, it's pretty much guaranteed someone in another org will figure something out and he'll be a 5 WAR+ player by 2027.

I can't take any more of this. Walker is basically the worst player in MLB. How does another year of the same result benefit anyone?
Nonsense. He is a gifted writer with inside information.
We are the ones who don't know sh*t.
The real question isn one Bernie posed: "does he even like playing baseball?"
It does not appear so.

What matters is WHO Walker will be working with on his batting issues. Holiday?? McGuire???

Considering the previous two yrs it has to be someone he can connect and has the cred to get his buy in. This will not happen over nite. From pitch recognition - understanding strike zone - repeating his swing approach consistently.

The IF should be fairly straightforward especially if Arenado leaves and JJ is brought up.
But the OF is anyone’s guess?
If you think about it....and of course any of these guys could be traded:
Donovan- Infield??
Burleson- 1B? DH?
Herrera- Catcher? DH?
Nootbaar- ????? Personally I hope he’s dealt!
Fortunately Walker can be sent down but I see his path very much depending on who gets dealt.

I don't think Goold has a read yet on Bloom, so for him to make that statement is very surprising.

His swing and approach is in need of a massive overhaul.

I'm not a big copy and paste kind of guy. But there's a direct quote from Bloom in this article that indicates Goold has good information.

The future is still undecided for Cardinals' former top prospect https://share.google/CiwOFNpzJJ94mEgTr
