Many on CT loved him as a player, too. Never liked him overall, though he had some moments. 1.6 career bWAR and 1.0 career fWAR. 91 career wRC+ and 93 career OPS+. And he was never good on defense.
And as far as managers go, I want someone with no previous Cardinals connections.

Good for Skippy
Never wanted him managing here though, aim higher after Oli's canned.

He'll have his hands full with an aging, declining, expensive roster.
What might have been.

He inherits a pretty good ballclub. since clubs usually reflect on the character of their manager, they may display his inherent hustle, good nature, and baseball smarts
Great opportunity for Schu.

.453 record as a manager
62-108 in his last year of managing
Meh
CTers last offseason: "Maybe the Cards should've made Skip their manager before the Rangers got him."
Scouty: "LOL, no team wanted him as manager!"
Me: "Actually, his role with the Rangers probably puts him as the heir apparent to the 69-year-old Bochy."
Scouty: "Lol, that's not true. No team wanted him as manager!"
Man, you're wrong a lot.

Was I at the time?
I'm also correct a lot... That's how it goes.

You were obviously wrong, and Skip’s four year deal less than a week after BB’s resignation proves that.
Maybe focus less on being the contrarian when CTers speak well of former cardinals. Seem to cloud your judgement.
