That was clearly a ball and it wasn't close. That is a tough one for the umps because of the pitch's sink and velocity, but they'll get no sympathy from me. Probably should have been bases loaded with nobody out but hey, you go 0 for 8 with RISP, the Cardinals will be happy to tell you, ya gonna lose.

With ABS, that chllenge would have been a walk ... runner on 1st nobody out with tying run coming to the plate. Instead without ABS ,it was 1 out and nobody on base.
Sure changed the final inning . Wait til next year !
Teams only get 2 challenges per game. Unlikely they would have a challenge left in the 9th inning. MLB can't get anything right.
Where is has been tested, batters have quickly learned to save the challenges until the late innings.
Also, challenges are unlimited as long as the batter wins the challenge.
It is limited to only 2 lost challenges.
Why not just go to an electronic strike zone instead of letting umpires fix the games?

He wouldn't come out immediately, because that was only the second batter. So he would have had to face the next batter that he hit. I'm not sure when Kitteredge got up in the inning, but he might not have been ready until the 4th batter was faced. It should have been bases loaded with no out. Umpire blew the call that probably cost the Padres the game and defintiely a chance to tie the game.
Keller pitched the 8th inning, he could be removed at any time. He hit the next two batters before being removed.

Doesn't change the fact that the HP umpire blew a call on a pitch that wasn't close to borderline.

I am more than ready for ABS. That was a horrible call and could have easily changed the game's outcome. ENOUGH already!

Yep I misread the game log. Used to yahoo who doesn't put who's pitching at the top of the inning unless there is a change. ESPN does it differently. Take back what I said.
