How could he, or any manager succeed when you're rolling out the pitching staff he was blessed with. Pallante, Mikolas, Fedde every 5 games? No manager could have won with those guys. Its absolutely amazing that they almost won as many games as they lost with that staff. Not to mention a handful of sub .220 hitters.
Nothing you posted excuses the stupid baserunning, outfielders throwing to the wrong base, complete lack of situational hitting awareness, or the generally terrible approach by Cardinal hitters.

All of these things need to be cleaned up and it appears Marmol isn’t the guy to do it.

That’s not why you’re “sticking with it.”

BDWJr brought him back this season because 1) he's under contract for 2026 and 2) Dewitt see's 2026 as a throwaway, re-build season.

There are no extension talks for Oli.

1) He hasn't earned it, 2) he's not C. Bloom's hire and 3) with the CBA coming up after the 2026 season Dewitt isn't paying a manager that may not be managing games in 2027 if things get nasty.

JMO, but I think Bloom will hire "his guy" after the new CBA is hammered out.

Oli won't be it.

C-H-A-I-M.

And no one is talking extension for Oli. You made that up.
do you think it is pronounced Chaim ?
and yes, there is a report out there talking about an extension
That’s how it’s typed. Get it right when you type.
and if someone if a poor speller, it's really easy.
it's like a chain but with an M at the end, not an N

Meanwhile, other teams will pounce on Schumacher, Bochy, Pujols and others and we will again have to promote from within. Another rookie manager. Walt provided us with the best manager in the game, the best pitching coach in the game and many of the top
Players in the game. Yes, we are spoiled. What we need is one of the best owners in the game.

I wish they would've canned Oli after the Phillies playoff debacle.

I don't see anymore "promote from within" rookie ML managers, those were Mo's puppets he wanted who would be so grateful for the job they wouldn't push back against him (and the one who did, Shildt, he canned).

I think Bloom will find us a solid major league manager/pitching coach.

(And I miss the days of Walt too)

The other alternative is that Bloom, of his own free will, is choosing to continue with the failed coaching regime of the Mo era.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt...but if you want to assume he's incompetent rather than powerless, then great.

Seriously, can you even imagine a young executive taking over a dying franchise under these circumstances, who doesn't want to dive in and shake things up and bring in his own people? That would require a profound lack of confidence and ambition.

Just a gut feeling .. wouldn't surprise me to see new direction with pitching coach.. Oli seems to like Dusty but wonder about Dir. of Pitching Matt Pierpont ? Haven't heard a lot of kudos about Blake really grooming the young pitchers when they reach the big league club. Wonder if Dusty could be packing. DeScalso could get some interviews for a managerial spot. If he would leave wonder if Jon Jay could get bench coach gig.

Good points.
My opinion of Oli mostly revolves around his in-game decision making(pitching changes & other strategies).
In those area I consider him below average.
However.....I have the same concerns that you mentioned above with base running/plate discipline/situational hitting/etc.
But....without being there with the team I don’t know how much of those concerns fall with the Manager?

I’m desperate for some logical reason for them to retain Oli. Nothing else makes sense. I’m sure the attack dogs will have a field day with this post. Incoming.
He’s under contract.

It’s not the best look to fire three managers in a row. They aren’t going anywhere next year, so it actually makes sense to let Marmol’s contract expire.

Exactly. I don't understand why this is so complicated or so surprising. They wouldn’t fire Mozeliak with a year left on his contract; people really think they're going to do it to Marmol in a year where they’re not expected to contend and there’s a labor stoppage after the season?
