At this point, can anyone think of a reason why not?
What, without even
trying to find someone better? Seems like he has one good game a month. I guess it won't really matter, the attendance and team results next season will be pretty much the same I guess.
This is a long-term process. We need an innings eater. I bet you could get him to come back on a one-year deal for less than his current rate of $18.5 mil. Sounds like a deal.
Be a wonderful second move on Bloom's part, after his leadership on keeping Marmol.
I get it now - Sarcasm
We're in Bizarro World now, so sarcasm is sincerity.

These are the ERA figures by month for MM for 23 - 25:
5.97
1.89
6.07
4.18
5.59
5.35
5.91
5.18
4.85
3.94
6.39
6.14
4.66
3.08
6.58
5.06
6.04
3.81
‐---------------
# of months era < 5.00 : 7
# of months era > 5.00 : 11
He's 37 now, so you can guess which end of the ERA spectrum he'll more likely dominate in his year 38/39. As to health, I understand he's resilient & can answer the call...it's just with these numbers, I'd rather he not pick up the phone.
Is there truly nobody else on the planet that can be signed or acquired?
I'd investigate Korean League possibilities for someone short-term before resigning MM.

Seriously...at this point, I'd love if they re-signed MM. At least it would send an honest message about what has been learned (nothing) and where this team is going (nowhere).

I've made some responses in your thread but until CNYfan mentioned sarcasm, I didn't realize where you were going with this. And I now do see your point. We'll have the same manager (and obviously ownership), probably the same coaches, and I'm afraid many of the same players (or some just like them) next season.
It'll be a reset of a reset. Deja vu all over again. More runway nonsense. I hope Bloom can turn this mess around, but he ain't gonna do it overnight. So, hell yeah, re-sign Miles. They can have a Miles-eating-a-lizard bobble head night. I'd go to that.
