Been saying it for months
No way BDWJr was going to pay Oli to sit at home knowing that 2026 was another throwaway season.
Hope they at least dump the useless Dusty and a few others though.

Best business decision Bill has made in a long time. Your team is stuck in the mud, Oli is under contract for next season, he’s a known commodity, you aren’t going to spend any $ to make the team better in ’26. Why do you need a change of manager? It would be like owning A
Dairy Queen in Elsberry and firing your local yokel manager, then hiring Warren Buffet as your new manager. What could possibly be the point? From a business standpoint, you don’t need a new manager until you’ve decided to compete. And Bill has decided not to compete.
Actually it was a Dairy King

If they give this guy an extension to keep him from being a lame duck I'm going full Paulie in Goodfellas
"And now I've got to turn my back on you."

Bringing Oli back tells everyone they are not making significant investments in the ML roster until the new cba is finalized. They known they can’t get a high quality manager this offseason. So, it makes sense to wait. Change just for change is dumb

Bringing Oli back shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. It may be a disappointment, primarily for what it stands for (status quo), but as my friend from East Texas would say ”it’s as obvious as dog balls”.

Been trying to tell you guys to prepare for this. The writing has been on the wall for quite some time. Seems like many just didn't want to read it.

I don't think bringing back Oli automatically means "status quo."
The status quo is about more than 1 guy, it's about a 26-man roster that hasn't been sufficiently turned over the last few years, with tweaks made around the edges to try and get an inadequate crew back to contention. It's about a player development system that hasn't developed a mid-to-top SP since Michael Wacha, or a perennial All-Star position player since Matt Carpenter.
Bloom still has plenty of chance, and a high likelihood imo, of doing many things outside of a managerial choice to show he is not going to be maintaining the status quo.

If Marmol is, indeed, back. Bloom needs to get Marmol a high level starting pitching rotation in order to truly evaluate him going forward.

Even if Marmol remains through the end of his contract in 2026, predicting a World Series win within the next decade under his leadership is speculative. The Cardinals’ farm system is currently ranked among the weakest in MLB, and the team is burdened with expensive veterans who are difficult to trade due to no-trade clauses. These factors make a championship run challenging unless there's a significant overhaul in talent development and roster construction.
So, while it's not impossible, the odds of the Cardinals winning a World Series under Marmol in the next 10 years are slim unless major changes occur

Another throw away season...drop attendance another million down to 1970s level. It all starts with the manager, and we don't have one.

Oli “back” could just mean to START 2026?
He has one year left on his contract. Bloom has a lot on his plate(player personnel moves) and may want to see how he works “directly” with Oli now that he is the POBO?
If I were Oli I wouldn’t get too comfortable!
Most likely. Bloom didn’t have a say in Marmol coming back in 2026. Dewitt (Jr. or III) made the call on this one, as a favor to MO.
I pay very little attention to what Managers, Coaches, GM’s etc say postgame or postseason.
It revolves around PR and why on earth should anyone tip their hand as to their impending moves?????
It serves no purpose in trying to facilitate moves.
In fact....it probably hampers their ability to get maximum return/results.
6 months until the 2026 season.
We wanted changes in the FO. We got them!
Let them do their jobs.
Patience!

lol - I love the mental gymnastics people play with High Em - if they like the move (like drafting JJ) then it was all Bloom - if they don't like it (keeping Oli) then he had nothing to do with it!

Of all the stupid nicknames I've seen posters on this board, and ME-lville and scouty are responsible for a lot, "high em" has to be the stupidest.
