Gray with a 5+ ERA and owed $35

Nado is a shell of himself and suspect arm/shoulder

Eating money for some garbage in a trade vs running out the contract...I run out the contract
Gray doesn't have a 5 ERA.

Still I'd run out the contract because I like both the players. Gray is actually a winning pitcher here.

If he can win another 14 games for us in 2027, that incremental $25M option doesn't look bad at all on a $/win basis.
Especially in light of the fact that we only have 2 other SP’s, neither of which has pitched a full MLB season.

My bad...finger hit 5 vs 4 on his ERA.

or

A Spanish television weather forecast

If the team trades Gray this offseason, they HAVE TO sign or trade for a minimum of two SP. That will be tough to do. And frankly, I dont see DeWitt spending for two free agents.

I'm in the business of hating on the Cardinals and ownership myself but I can hardly blame them for wanting to go into the upcoming lockout with his little payroll as possible until they know the new parameters.

I put the chances of a lockout at 99.9%
Well, they can sell that dream of potential lockout leverage to the 1 million fans coming to see them play next year.
They're not getting fans to come to the ballpark next year. Especially if they keep Oli as manager which they probably will. I have no clue what kind of free agent signings it would take to overcome that decision but it's far greater than anything deWitt will stomach. Might as well ride along with a another year of a bad team and even worse attendance and sort it out on the other side of the new bargaining agreement

That is a lot of reliance on the hope that fans will eventually come back, and the long term health of the game/brand.

I have trouble believing fans come to, or don't come to a ballpark because of a manager.

I know you do. I don't. I've gone to a couple games this year but only because I got free tickets. I have very little interest in the players and the Oli extension after a 20 game under .500 season put me in the camp of they can kiss my (donkey) until they kick his (donkey) to the curb. He's representative to me of everything that's wrong with this baseball team. I have also never personally met anyone that is a fan of his. I'm sure they exist I just haven't met one

I hate this teams management and Oli enough to not go to games. Why did I go to 2 this year? Because my daughters wanted to go. They could care less about baseball but they like going anywhere that has overpriced food

The Cardinals are for sure going to have to eat some of Gray and Nado's payrolls, but they can focus on bringing in more guys who they feel are part of the future.
Just like the transition from Auggie 2 to Auggie 3. This franchise is set up to be the joke of the league.

Glad Mo is gone. Finally the end of his reign is here.

are you sure about that? Maybe I'm being morbid, but considering how attached the DeWitt's are to MO, I wonder if he'll still have their ear even though he's "officially gone"?
