He did not get Rolen or Edmonds as rookies.

I left Molina out, so yeah, the TLR teams had FOUR legit MLB HOF players. You better win something with that talent.

These are ones I can think of who debuted under TLR and went on to have HOF type careers.

Bringing players up in a disciplined and winning culture matters.... even when you are rebuilding and not necessarily winning just yet.

The problem is, you can't have a "winning culture" when you have zero talent. Where is the talent on this team? Those TLR teams had better talent at every single position on the field and it's not even close. I agree that a complete overhaul is needed with the coaching staff, but come on, look at this lineup and pitching staff. Nobody would be able to build a "winning culture" with all of these spare parts.

I will agree to disagree. I believe that a winning culture and the discipline associated with it should be established, regardless of the team's current status.

It is necessary during the rebuild to instill the right culture so that when you get to the other side, the mindset is already there.

I wouldn't say we've had a clear vision for a while now, and I don't think that's got a lick to do with Oli. The tone is set from the FO down, and ours has been severely lacking. Filled with a lot of half-measures and can kicking.

I'm not here to say that Oli is God's Gift To Managing, but I think a fair amount of criticism of him isn't deserved.

But back to Renty. He was, to me, the textbook example of what a #6/#7 hole hitter should be. Somebody capable of eating up the scraps after the big guys have had their turn at the buffet. And nobody did it as well as Edgar. I'm happy to see him get his flowers. Been far too long for him to get recognition he deserves.
