Dems and liberals would have a lot more moral authority right now if they hadn't initiated the whole McCarthyism campaign themselves against pro-Palestinian protestors on college campuses.
1000000000%. We're paying the price right now for a lot of what they have done over the years as a way to placate the donor class.
Of course, this exposes a lot of the people on the right complaining about "cancel culture" for what they really are, which is being really mad because they can't get away with saying slurs with no consequences.

I remember there was cheering from a large group of people (including a certain newspaper) after Trump got booted off all social media sites.
That seemed rather authoritarian.
I also remember a group of Congressional House members pressed cable carriers to drop Newsmax for simply disagreeing with the results of the 2020 election. That seemed rather authoritarian too, considering the fact that the party of those Congressional House members has been questioning Presidential results their party loses for literally decades.
I guess free speech is important to that group of people -- when it's convenient.
Then you should agree that what's happening with a Kimmel is very bad.

'member when the Biden administration used the full weight of his office to pressure Zuckerberg to censor stories they didn't like?
Any and all 'vid, burisma, laptop, russiagate et al stories were verboten under the threat of the admin and the FBI. Zuck testified as much before congress:
Facebook eliminating posts that are out and out lies is not at all the same as firing someone for telling a truth that Trump doesn't like. We are on the road to a dictatorship where the only part of the Constitution that will still be honored is the Second Amendment.
lol. lies, eh? the identical narratives of the press and the previous admin on those topics were lies, alright. The "conspiracy theorists," for all four of those topics were proven to be correct all along. the facebook files, the unclassified FBI file FD-1023, the admission (finally) that the 'vid DID start in a lab. We could go on.
Kimmel wasn't fired for "telling a truth." Telling his audience that Kirk's killer was a right winger was a lie...or that newer buzzword we heard oh so much: "misinformation."
You seem unable to understand what truth is. The alleged shooter was not in any way a left winger. The bottom line is that Trump wants to silence all criticism. He wants the US to be N Korea. Congress should invoke the 25th Amendment, but the spineless Republicans won't do it.

Trump was booted off social media sites for lying. Kimmel was not lying. Newsmax lied about the results of the 2020 election.

in interviews that are there in the press for anyone to read, friends, family, acquaintances, and the cooperating lover, have all said the shooter's politics were left. Utah County Attorney, "Robinson's mother explained that over the last year or so, Robinson had become more political and had started to lean more to the left." On what planet in what galaxy could you read Robinson's texts with his boyfriend and come to the conclusion he was anything but a left winger? "Some hate can't be negotiated out."--Robinson. Truly out there, dude.

His politics, such as they are, are all over the place.

Be careful. This is verboten territory in our local paper ‘of record’.
YOU get a safe spaces, and YOU get a safe space, and, uh, youse…. Not so much.
You'd think a Newspaper would be interested in the government pressuring television networks to silence speech that government officials don't like.
You mean the paper that silences our speech?
Are you still crying about them eliminating the CA board? Why don't you get you to the replacement forum that popped up? That's were the moronic continue their ragefest since they were forced out here. You're not still hurt over the kickball stuff are you?
We'll see how firm their principles are when they see his ratings tonight.
Speaking of principles, if Kimmel had any (or any dignity), he'd use his comeback opening monologue to double down on his joke and tell his bosses to shove the job up their (bleep) before walking off set for the last time.

Well that's interesting. Apparently "free speech" only flows one way.
I expected better from those Constitution-luvin' democrats.
I don’t even like Kimmel and generally think talk shows these days suck. Had these idiots, one in particular, just been able to keep their mouths shut for awhile, they probably could have just not renewed these guys when their contracts were up and not had too much backlash. Then again, my senior mom really loved Colbert and Kimmel, so maybe there’s more of an audience than I give credit for.
