Re: Over/Under How many years until....
If they'd engaged in a true rebuild, which would have started in 2023, then the turn-around would take place sooner.
However, since they've pursued a more slo-mo rebuild, it will take relatively longer - I'd agree with the 2029 estimate.

Can't you do it sooner? I won't be able to sleep.Melville wrote: ↑13 Sep 2025 17:54 pmIn 30 days or less, I could make the Cardinals a 50/50 contender to win the division in 2026 - and 75/25 to gain a WC spot.Dewey Kuey wrote: ↑13 Sep 2025 13:04 pm Cardinals win top spot in their division again?
5 years...what do you think?
As could any competent leader.
Only 4 decisions need to be made and executed - each of which is rather easily accomplished.
So, with creating those 50/50 odds, STL could quite realistically win the division next year or the year following.
Not difficult at all.
Now, how long will it take Bloom to do so?
Too soon to say - but I should have a perfect analysis of him by the end of January.

Please stop, its clear they will NOT spend big Money till the 2027 contract is settled.Melville wrote: ↑13 Sep 2025 17:54 pmIn 30 days or less, I could make the Cardinals a 50/50 contender to win the division in 2026 - and 75/25 to gain a WC spot.Dewey Kuey wrote: ↑13 Sep 2025 13:04 pm Cardinals win top spot in their division again?

Without necessarily spending hundreds of millions of dollars on FA's.

Re: Over/Under How many years until....
Pretty close to my thinking. My biggest concern is putting together a pitching staff to do it. The front office will never spend the kind of money it will take to put it together. And developing those type pitchers isn't easy and once they get their chance it takes a few years of pitching in the majors before they put it all together.
Re: Over/Under How many years until....
Under just bc this division is not a perennial powerhouse.
Re: Over/Under How many years until....
6 minimum

Why do you assume this org can return to an elite contending status? The utter collapse and demise from top to bottom has Been so extreme theres no guarantee it will return to previous glory. The owner is obviously awol. The new leadership has not REAL tract record of complete successful overhaul. The field manager and staff have no pedigree. EVERY correction from mediocrity in Cards history had a historical force of baseball saving it. That is not present here.
