Let's officially change John Kelly's ending with the Blues.

The OLD ENDING (written by the Blues)
John Kelly retired in 2025 due to age (likely). He didn't care enough about the job and the fans to give advance notice. He didn't care enough about the fans to say goodbye to them. The Blues owner clarified that it was not a monetary decision. The Blues owner showed extreme respect to John Kelly and wrote a really nice thank you note to John and his family. Likely, the Blues were not even involved in this decision. It was simply out of the hands of the Blues, likely.

The NEW ENDING (written by John Kelly)
John Kelly wanted to retire a Blue. Despite this, the Blues kicked John Kelly to the curb, and then didn't have the decency and integrity to tell the full truth to the fans. The Blues WERE HAPPY IF THE BLUES FANS REMEMBERED JOHN KELLY AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. The OLD SUMMARY allowed the Blues to do what is best for them financially at John Kelly's expense.

Conclusion:
The Blues are owned currently by somebody no better than Kroenke. The Blues owners care about profits. Period. The happiness of John Kelly and the fans is a very distant concern.

Nice game call, John Kelly! He shoots. He scores.

WRONG!! If they truly cared just about profits they wouldn’t own a hockey team in the first place.

Bob Miller was excellent for over forty years and is in the NHL HOF for Broadcasters, but he’s been retired for eight years.
Jim Fox is a “Legacy” color man. He played for the Kings before Gretzky made it cool. He ain’t great, but JK will be fine with him.
Darryl Evans post-game is like a Don Cherry wardrobe flashback- he dresses like a pimp.
It’ll be GREAT having Kelly here. I haven’t cared much about the Kings since they blew the 93 SCF.
Did you mean since Miller retired they have not had…

Also I had tickets to game 6 of the scf. Stupid mcsorely and his illegal stick.

I loved Bob Miller. He was magnificent. I swear to god the Ducks have been hiring pbp guys who sound like Miller for decades. Miller was about as good as it gets. I was at Staples Center the night after he got the Foster Hewitt Award from the HOF and was disappointed (as usual) by the casual response of the LA fans to the announcement. He has a goddanged statue outside the Crypto Palace- or whatever TF it is called these days.
Pedigree was the key.
Miller was an unknown 35-year-old who replaced Jiggs McDonald. He made it on his own. JK comes in from a Dynasty of Hockey pbp folks.

Sorry you bought tickets to a game that never happened.
What a heartbreak. Kings win Game One of the Stanley Cup Finals in MONTREAL!!
Kings are up 2-1 very very late in Game Two in Montreal. If they win that game... it could have been a sweep.

I have a house in Encino and Dave Taylor lived in the expensive part- south of the Boulevard. He used to get coffee at the Starbucks on Louise and Ventura, across the street from where I worked, and not far from where I lived. I found myself right behind him in a longish line and introduced myself as a Hockey Fan. In LA it is crazy, the greatest King of All-Time can be unrecognized... folks had no idea. I told him that he was the MAN in the "high-water mark of the history of the franchise in Game Two". This was ten years before they won their first cup. I mentioned that they were up 2-1 in Montreal and up one game to none. Taylor had an unassisted goal and an assist. I offered that it must have been a heck of a thing to lose that lead on an illegal stick penalty in the last two minutes and lose the game in OT. Taylor, ever classy, said "these things happen, its hockey", and gave a chuckle and a grin.
They never won another game and lost in five. Gretzky - without Messier- is strangely cupless, see the Blues in '96.

Lived in LA for decades. Miller was worth every penny he was paid and more. Great announcer and human. Was lucky to listen to him for decades and meet him several times.

I know right where that Starbucks is. I lived for a while over in Valley Village.

Taylor was all class.

Met quite a few 90s Kings down in the South Bay. A lot of them would go to the kettle in redondo. We were out at a bar in South Bay, I went to the restroom and when I returned Melrose was hitting on my then girlfriend. Later that night ran into him again at the kettle. We had a laugh about it.

Hated staples/crypto as a venue to watch hockey. Totally designed to support the expensive seats and luxury boxes. Cheap seats are miles high- not that LA has cheap seats.

Saw a lot of good hockey out in LA, but the fans are pretty sedate. When we moved out there as a kid, Was quite a shock going from the old stl arena to LA forum and seeing the stark difference in intensity.

The Old Forum was a dream.... There wasn't even a Broadcast Booth. Miller and Chick Hearn were in the same seats as the crowd.
I reckon the single crowd would be down near the party beaches, while Mr. Taylor had a sweet home in the San Fernando Valley- home of the Middle Class Families. Like mine.

When I said Taylor was the Greatest King of All Time, I wansn't joking. When I met him that day in 2001 or 2002, they were still Cupless.
The Blues are Blessed to have him as a VP. He is the Brian Sutter of LA.

"Taylor retired in 1994 as he was becoming less active in the NHL, and his points were starting to decline, and he got a front-office position with the team as an assistant general manager.[10][11] Until 2019, he held the Kings record for games played with 1,111 until it was broken by Dustin Brown and then Anže Kopitar.[12] He is the lowest-drafted player to net 1,000 career points, drafted in the 15th round (210th overall) of the 1975 NHL draft and appeared in four NHL All-Star Games in 1981, 1982, 1986 and 1994. The Los Angeles Kings retired #18 in his honor.[13]"

Thanks for your stories!

I am getting old... I met Dave Taylor ten years before they won their first cup. That SCF series was almost twenty years before.

Simple question. Why did you feel the need to copy your post in other John Kelly thread?
Are you finally out of material?

1. How do you know Maroon "didn't even get a phone call"? Did Maroon call the Blues? Perhaps he had a magical year and wanted to save it that way? What's more, if the Blues were so disrespectful, why was he leading cheers during playoffs last season?

2. Oshie was traded before becoming a FA.

Oshie sad he was hung up on. Maroon said he didn’t get a phone call. Pietrangelo and Perron both said they felt disrespected. Perron also indicated he believed Pietrangelo was disrespected.

Armstrong has a long history of being disrespectful…especially when upset. It’s well known. His people skills aren’t good. He’s admitted that.

This is, indeed, putrid.

Troll number one copies and pastes his monotonous and untrustworthy dross which entices troll number two to do likewise.

Neither are healthy personalities.
Neither are honest.
Their outright lies and general misinformation are NEVER acknowledged. There are too many people in the world like that and we are the worse for it.
They are startlingly compulsive in their negativity and both have made bold and dramatic promises to leave the board… and both of the weasels reneged.

I wish they would get well or find other hobbies.

Coming from the KIng of "I'm always alone because I'm on Blues Talk morning, noon and night / 365" this is truly laughable.

So who is in whose head again?
Aren’t you the one that reported him to the mods after he made you look foolish princess?
Sounds like you think of him a lot.
No matter what you say to defend yourself….no one will believe you.
You’re a proven narcissistic liar, enjoy your evening princess.
