Also, Springfield is going to the postseason, yeah? I wonder if that plays into it. Not just "get the kid more innings" but also "let's put him in a playoff environment."

Major conference college ball equal to AA. Good move for him.

AA Playoffs. This is a win for Springfield and for Doyle. He gets to help Springfield and help himself by experieincing potentially some high leverage situations.
Re: Cards already moving Liam Doyle to AA Springfield
Question: Will that AA atmosphere be more or less "high leverage" than SEC playoffs?Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 13:11 pm AA Playoffs. This is a win for Springfield and for Doyle. He gets to help Springfield and help himself by experieincing potentially some high leverage situations.

Re: Cards already moving Liam Doyle to AA Springfield
A while back I posted that hoped that Doyle would get a start at Palm Beach, a start at Peoria and a start at Springfield this season. Some scoffed at the idea. Well, he just bypassed Peoria. This is a really good evaluation move for both Doyle and the organization.

Re: Cards already moving Liam Doyle to AA Springfield
"a while back" you said a billion different things which included pitching for the Cards this year....to get "seasoning"...you used the term "Seasoning" as you changed your mind....several times, all the way down to "Palm Beach"
No Laps, No chest beating.
Sorry.
PS...Peoria's season is over.

That level won't do anything against his fastballBully4you wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:11 amHe hadn't pitched in a while, so could be some rust.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:09 amAnd 2 walks and a hitBully4you wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:06 amHe had 3 K's in his debut and it was 1 2/3 innings!!Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:04 amOh it’s good news to me also just surprising newsBully4you wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:03 amIt's good news.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 10:57 am That’s surprising but I guess they are wanting him to get in more games so it makes sense
If they didn't think he could handle it, they wouldn't promote.
I see it as good news anyway.
He did allow a run though
3 K's is nice.
Re: Cards already moving Liam Doyle to AA Springfield
Doyle's fastball was awesome Saturday night....his slider was was more good than bad, but the bad was crushed. Hanger for a HR. That follows his scouting report....Sliders for Hangers. That's the room for improvement.
I can't say enough about the movement on his fastball...incredible. And the delivery is weird when you think of a LHP. I think you guys will like it.

What do you think his role will be in Springfield this last week? I wouldnt mind getting down to see him live. Do you think he could pitch this weeknd?
Re: Cards already moving Liam Doyle to AA Springfield
the last week? Probably a Saturday start of 40-50 pitches...probably closer to 40 pitches.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 15:04 pmDuce, craviduce wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 14:59 pm Doyle's fastball was awesome Saturday night....his slider was was more good than bad, but the bad was crushed. Will he throw in the playoffs? I hope he DOESN'T start a game...that's insulting to the 3 guys who pitched their hearts out this year and deserve those starts....Henderson, Mautz and Hansen.
If you must pitch him in the playoffs, then make it an inning in one game. Getting the experience on the bench/BP and talking to players and coaches is more valuable than throwing 30-50 pitches in the fall.

Not really Bully
Doyle was the #5 pick in the draft, led college ball in KO's and has four years of college ball experience that includes two years in the SEC (the best).
The college experience puts him well above Class A players, on par w/AA level where he belongs.
Hjerpe was drafted much later as the 22nd player drafted in his class and started at A+ and only had three seasons at Oregon.
Doyle had an extra season of college ball.
No offense to Hjerpe, but Doyle is a way higher level prospect.
Am I missing something? Doyle only had 3 years of college.
At three different schools no less.
Also Hjerpe was at Oregon State.
Re: Cards already moving Liam Doyle to AA Springfield
it will be nice for him to get some playoff pitching experience with Springfield. As mentioned in my other thread, I think winning championships even in the minors really matters. Guys get addicted to winning and that's a good thing.

you have the right of it, Pads....19 yo first year student with Coastal Carolina. 20 yo with Ole Miss. 21 year old junior with the VolsPadsFS07 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 15:38 pmrockondlouie wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:11 am

Walker was 20 during his AA season. Doyle is already 22.Bully4you wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 10:53 am So, he pitches 1 2/3 innings in A ball and now he's moved to AA?
Must have been one hell of a 1 2/3 innings!!!
I guess they want him to get more work before year ends

Consider his last start at A just a rehab assignment to get warmed up. First competition since June.
