Chip congratulates fans on attendance

I think Chip would be alright if he had someone other than Brad with him. The two of them together are not a good combo. It always sounds like Brad can't wait to say something, and together they get goofy talking about non baseball related topics.

Exactly ! Brad goes way overboard and does have a quick wit at times . He knows he can crack up Chip easily and then when Chip starts laughing at something goofy it goes off the rails. Sweeny does a much better job and if a defensive player makes a mental or physical error , he will tell the fans want went wrong and not excuse the player while at the same time not going to ballistic on the player.

Not saying this as a slight to Brad but truly I have watched segments on Cardinal Insider where Brad goes to schools with Fredbird for programs in the gym, etc. Brad connects well with the kids in that setting and is good PR type for the organization. He should be doing more of that and less analyst in the booth.

Brad has his strengths. He's energetic and upbeat. Im sure he is great with PR.

I watched the A’s feed for this series, where Chip’s son Chris does play by play. He’s already better than his pop.

I listened to Chris once last year. He has taken the best from his father . sure he has listened to hours and hours of his Dad's broadcast to learn certain things and he has learned well.

He really has. Dallas Braden is a good partner for him as well.

I miss Dan, if nothing else just for the nostalgia of that whole era

There’s a lot of reasons fans have disengaged.

This issue is overlooked and the Cardinals have nobody to blame but themselves.

Dan should have been fired multiple times before he actually was.

The timing of when he actually did finally get fired and the arc of the success is a real shame.

An announcer and that connection is as big a thing in baseball as anything.

I for one wish it was Chip who had some of that winning era instead of Dan.

I was watching the game on MLB-TV and had KMOX for the audio and Ricky Horton didn't even give tonight's attendance he just said the Cards topped the 2 million mark for the season.

The Astros had attendance of 2.8-3.0 million in 2007-2008, which then dipped to 1.6 million in 2012-2013 when they were in their rebuilding years. It has since come back up to 2.8-3.0 million

The Braves had attendance of 2.5 million in 2013, which then dipped to 2.0 million in 2015-2016 when they were in their rebuilding years. It has since come back up to 3.0-3.1 million.

The Phillies had attendance of 3.6-3.8 million in 2009-2011, which then dipped to 1.8-1.9 million in 2015-2017 when they were in their rebuilding years. It has since come back up to 3.3 million.

All of this is expected as part of a deep organizational rebuild.

Brad chimed in with 'it's been steady throughout the years ... not exactly where the organization wants it currently ... talk about Mr. Obvious lol

The best part was they cut to a quarter-full section of the crowd when Brad was saying this. Hilarious.

I explained to my wife that they used to tout their streak of 3M fans... they've now had to lower the threshold.

And there are quite a few who are far better. Heck even the Rays have better….

He is great with children. He should consider entertaining kids at birthday parties wearing face paint, a huge red nose, and making animals out of balloons.........Bozo Brad at your service!

It’s exactly what I want, because it’s what ownership deserves. It’s sad that it took this to for the DeWitts to learn their lesson — and I’m not convinced they’ve learned it.

It’s exactly what I want, because it’s what ownership deserves. It’s sad that it took this to for the DeWitts to learn their lesson — and I’m not convinced they’ve learned it.

I think that they have abundantly made it clear that they don't care what the fans think. The lack of attendance will only result in payroll going down again. I don't see any revenue coming from any tv deals. It's an ugly game of chicken.

Yep. I'm usually pretty forgiving on announcers. Hell, I used to defend Dan and Al. But Brad is terrible and needs to go.

I agree and I thought they had been phasing him out earlier this year. He is terrible.

Brad will excuse every bad play in the field with something . Reminds me of the mother who had to report to elementary school office for her child thru a rock that broke the school window. Mother says to principal.. 'Yeah, he and his buddy were aiming at the brick wall at a bullseye spot but Jimmy's throw went too far left and broke the window. Mr. Principal, I assure you both my husband and I will work with him on throwing straighter from now on. That could be Brad .. always has an excuse on everything.

We had a kid in 7th grade woodshop who claimed to have tourettes. He would cuss a lot, looked like napoleon dynamite. We all wondered if he was making it up. One day he creeped up slowly behind the teacher to play a joke on him. The teacher called his dad, who literally said "well he has tourettes." That settled that. Nevermind the fact that playing practical jokes may or may not be a symptom of tourettes.
