Even if a manager were willing to hold his nose and run him out there despite the prolonged stretches of stinky at bats and against left-handed pitching- Gorman is never going to be available for 600 at bats- earned, or not.

We've not seen too much evidence of his power this year. He's boosted his walk rate which is encouraging, but he has yet to show 30HR power.
You understand that even his current stats, which are within a sample size of great amounts of disruption to regular playing time, projected at a full season of at-bats would put him at about that 30HR total.
Doubling his current ABs, which is generous imo, gives him 26HR, which is not 30HR.
It’s not about generosity it’s about what the numbers are with a full season of at-bats.
600 at bats with his current 2025 stats, which come with great amounts of disruption to playing time, would put him at 27.4 HR’s, which is why I said “at about” 30 HR total
If we use his 2024 stats of 19 HRs over 600 at-bats it’s 31 HR’s.

No kidding. One year. Now he has annual back issues/can't stay healthy. Can't field worth a [shirt]. And people want him at 1b?

career league average hitter.

here's the problem...he can't stay healthy to ever approach 600 AB's so extrapolate all you want...

I suspect there are a lot of teams who look at his walk rate and barrel rate and think "I can fix him." They are going to try and buy low on him. I worry that we are going to get a lot of 'meh' offers on him and trade him just because there are trade options. I have no problem trading him for the right deal, but don't sell low. If you are just going to get a different 0.6 WAR player, I would keep him.

Probably more to the point of having him as the primary DH.
I’m interested in seeing him get an opportunity for regular at bats while playing his natural position and or heavy DH and see what’s there in a guy that just 25 years old.
With the forecast for lack of spending and there not being a power asset like this in the program, I say let’s do it.

If he’s only here to DH, what is the point of needing him versus Herrera? Herrera is also cheap and has more years of control remaining.

I’m the biggest fan of Herrera.
I wish there would have been, at least visible, working connection between him and Yadi.
That frame and build is special, his face is dialed. He is a major league you want to try to find a place in your organization that works.
I don’t think Ivan is a 35+ HR hitter although a probably better overall hitter than Gorman. I do think Gorman is pretty much a slam dunk to hit 35+ with regular playing time while not being jerked around learning new positions when he’s not gifted defensively in the first place.
Given our ‘youth’ movement and where we are at I’d prefer to see players like Herrera and even Burelson build value while taking time at 1B (and DH as well) instead of WC.
Given where we are at I’d be giving Gorman 3b reps in ‘26 and using him heavily at DH with an open-mind to slide more one way or the other as we get more feedback on his 3b play and I’d still probably have interest in Herrera catching sometimes, I’m not closed to that either.

DH Herrera or Burleson
1B Contreras
2B Wetherholt
3B Donovan or Arenado
Gorman doesn't fit once Wetherhold arrives. We already have 4 guys for the 6 spots he can play... if you believe he can play 3B or 2B, which I don't... unless he hits like Max Muncy, which he doesn't.

I think Gorman could stand to lose 10-15 lbs.
His legs are like tree trunks, so he will always be slow, but he's stiff in the box and in the field.

Gorman continues to be a "can't miss" that missed. He won't get any better.

Poor Norman. Only 1400 at bats to show what he can(t) do
Yea no kidding he will be retiring before people actually figure out he’s not good. He’s a black hole in the lineup and on defense

He’s 25, most get a little better over coming years.
And if he didn’t get any better, his HR production in ‘24 and ‘25 project with a full season of at-bats to like 30HRs a year.

You do realize that that is false?
He has 13 homeruns in 332 plate appearences- that projects to 23 over 600 plate appearences.
You also realize that for him to get 600 plate appearences hed have to hit full time vs lefties and more proportion of at bats vs lefties would lower his homerun rate more.
You cam straight project to larger sample size anyway but hed project to about 20 homeruns.
