I'm predicting Mathews will be in the rotation to start 2026.

However, there is no need to promote him now.

If you want to shut down Pallante, then take a look at Curtis Taylor or let Aaron Wilkerson finish out the season.

Calling up a pitcher who has struggled to work through AAA this year makes no sense. Why would you advocate for that? Just because? Cause that doesn't set the player up to succeed. They need to be hyperfocused on development and stop calling guys up because of where they rank on a prospect list.
JJW hasn't struggled at all however.

I’m not talking about JJ
and the thread is specifically about 2 pitchers.. but EVERY thread turns into one of three things:
complain about Mo
complain about Oli
complain about JJW not being in STL yet

gets very tiresome

There’s no need now, but it might benefit him next year to have some starts under his belt. Most April starters have an adjustment period If they haven’t previously had games in the major leagues.
