Some probably think that's a bad thing, but it puts us as the first time to miss the playoffs. Everyone in the NL over .500 would be in playoff position.
That's a pitiful stat for the NL. Only six of 15 teams over .500. Maybe instead of expansion, the league should consider retraction.
For teams to be over .500 others have to be under
4 teams are within 1-2 games of .500 and could be a series against a losing team from suddenly all being over .500 clubs and there being 10 of 15 teams over. 500
Silly take.
Still you have to take note that there is a very different distribution of wins and losses this year (maybe the past couple years) compared to say 2022.
This year only the Brewers are over .600 at .620, and that only recently. In 2022 both the Braves and Mets were .623 and the Dodgers were .685 (and over .700 for much of the season). In the AL its even tighter with the best team at .577.
So despite some historically bad teams the past 2-3 years - CWS and Rockies - we aren't seeing the opposite of any teams flirting with 108-110 wins.

Yes, because all 4 teams will win their next 3 games to be over .500.

Lost opportunities today--passing Cincy, getting to .500 and, apparently, gaining on New York. Incredibly, if the Mets lose today the Cardinals--despite a sub-.500 August, will have lost no ground in the WC 3 race for the month. However, they have lost 7 or 8 more games to the first place Brewers.
