And JJ is 847 miles away in Oklahoma City.
So he's not really close at all
In such a hurry to crown Prieto as his next obsession he forgets all about the (likely) best hitter in the entire organization.
He only likes mediocre-to-[shirt] type of players and makes them some kind of dark horse obsession for some reason. He never likes actual good players. Pretty sure it’s his troll technique.
I remember him hyoing that burly had a low strikeout rate and that isbthe one thing prieto does well, in that prieto had one of the lowest k rates in the minors. Unfortunately that doesnt always lead to much offense. Prieto doesnt walk much either and mostly hits singles or weak ground or flyouts.
As much as I don’t like the high K modern players, I never liked players that hit an empty .300 either.
Putting the ball in play consistently is nice if you have speed, otherwise you’re just as likely to kill rallies hitting into double plays.
Those empty average guys also collect their hits in lopsided games or non-pressure situations. Going 2 for 4 with 0 RBIs or runs scored or a solo shot in a 10-2 game means nothing.

Itd be fine if caesar prieto hit .300 as a backup infielder, but .295 singles hitter as a 26 year old in memphis is probably more like .260 singles hitter in mlb or worse.
He did walk more in memphis this year but he hadnt in previous year and in mlb, mlb pitchers arent gonna putch around and walk a weak hitting prieto so his obp and ops likely look weak at the end of the day.

I was hoping he at least had some wheels to help keep up the +350 OBP but I saw he was caught stealing 13 of 24 times, so probably not. Probably the .260 (or worse) you mentioned. Shady’s gonna love him.
