Pribula was really good at the short and intermediate throws though.

Re: Early take... Cook/Pribula
In his first game Pribula appeared to make decisions just a bit quicker than Cook did.
Cook is a gifted runner but always seemed to take a short hesitation before he made up his mind to run, throw, or throw it away.
He still played great in SEC play and Pribula has a long way yet to go to show us what he is made of.

Re: Early take... Cook/Pribula
Cook consistently overthrew his deep receivers. If the QB overthrows, the receiver can't catch it, but generally neither can the defense. Underthrown balls are much more likely to be picked.dugoutrex wrote: ↑30 Aug 2025 13:04 pmand yet it was completed - what was Brady on passes of 40+ yards ... 1 out of 10?Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑30 Aug 2025 11:33 amIt was underthrown. I like what I saw from Pribula, but he needs to throw the ball sooner or farther. SEC defenses will not be as forgiving as Central Arky.

Re: Early take... Cook/Pribula
Never saw Pribula change his facial expression.
Seemed almost too relaxed if that's possible and I see that as a good sign.
It's a subpar opponent and we’ll know more after game 2 but his calmness and knowing exactly where the ball was supposed to go was most impressive.
He proved to be elusive although I believe Cook is the faster and better runner.
Most importantly
The kid certainly looks the part with plenty of momentum going forward.

Pribula was just clocked in the spring at a 4.40.
Cook ran a 4.60 at the combine.
Further, Pribula appears to get to top end speed faster. Cook takes a bit longer to decide to go and to get to top end.
Re: Early take... Cook/Pribula
I have to laugh at some of the responses here. Pribula is an upgrade in every way over Cook. Better arm better decision making better handling pressure. Cook was a busy player and never gave up but this offense will run MUCH better with Pribula.

That may turn out to be true, but as of August 30 your evaluation is based on his performance against a very, very mediocre team.

And one great game. As Brady has had many himself.edwin drood wrote: ↑30 Aug 2025 16:35 pmThat may turn out to be true, but as of August 30 your evaluation is based on his performance against a very, very mediocre team.
He played extremely well...I hope he is better than Cook...I pray to God he is....but since I'm not God I believe I'll have to wait to see more to tell.

Nope. The WR had to alter his path and go shallow to get it.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑30 Aug 2025 16:03 pmThe first one wasn’t under thrown. It was on the money in stride.Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑30 Aug 2025 11:33 amIt was underthrown. The WR had to come back and get it.

Agree 11, hard to get a good read against an overmatched opponent, but he looked cool and in controll.11WSChamps wrote: ↑30 Aug 2025 14:53 pm Never saw Pribula change his facial expression.

Cook was a good scrambler but a poor runner from scrimmage. I believe Pribula is faster but he has a strange running style which makes him look a bit slower. Seems to have crazy legs!
I believe he will be better than Cook. He doesn't stare down his target and appears to be much better on intermediate routes and the long ball. Was never a big Cook fan but the guy got the job done with limited skills.

Nit picking perhaps. But Johnson clearly makes an adjustment, slowing down to wait for the ball. You can see his feet shuffle at the 15 yard line.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑30 Aug 2025 17:42 pmlol…. But you're right that this was Pribula's best long throw of the day. If he can repeat that throw consistently, he should be fine.

Re: Early take... Cook/Pribula
Certainly looks that way after one game against a much inferior opponent.
Pribula seized the opportunity and looked like he has played in this offense all his life.
A lot of tests coming to see if the offense under Pribula will shine.
If they can protect him there's a good chance it will.

But I once had a coach tell me there's stopwatch time and then there's game time.
For health sake as we saw with Cook let's hope Pribula doesn't have to run nearly as much.
