The caveat to that is Curtis Taylor at Memphis, that 3dender mentioned above. The reason they haven't summoned him yet is that he's not on the 40-man roster.
there's a spot open, iirc

For those who feel the need to defend this spiral that's led to this hard not to admit what the ballclub has become.

And people actually believe this team can compete for the division next season.

Just brutal.

What’s “best” for Pallante and the Cardinals’ starting pitch depth are factors that need to be considered.
Said Marmol '“There are more moving parts to it, for sure,

He indicated those steps will be discussed Wednesday by the coaching staff.
In his previous nine starts after tossing seven scoreless innings in Pittsburgh on July 1, Pallante has a 9.80 ERA in 44 2/3 innings.
Rosters expand before his next start.
That is explains The Marmot's comments with perfection.

I could fix this roster in less than 30 days.
Any competent person could.

I've said for months now........DFA

Pallante and Mikolas are two of the five worse pitchers in MLB.

Dump both.

Bring up "Q" and give the other starts to anyone but these two STIFFS. :x

Truth be told....We have no good pitchers.
That includes Gray.
He isn't that good either.

3dender wrote: 27 Aug 2025 08:45 am Looking over his splits it's insane how much the wheels have fallen off in August.

He was fine-not-great in the previous 4 months, never with a WHIP over 1.45 and an opponents OPS over .763. Worst ERA was July with a 5.16, even though his WHIP and OPS were his best of the season that month.

In August opponents have a 1.021 OPS against him and he has a 2.045 WHIP and a 9.82 ERA... basically he's turning all opposing batters into Ohtani.

He's at a career high in innings pitched but only by like 20 innings more than last year, so that doesn't really seem like it can be the explanation.
https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... llan000and

Hardly a surprise. He started a total of 1 game in AAA before being called up. ERA over 5 in AA. Then they put him on the 26 man roster.

2023 exclusively a reliever. Last season split time in bullpen and starting. Started for 111 innings. Now at 140 innings he has hit the wall. Marathon runners know the feeling. What I don't understand is Marmol's insistence on a pitcher with an obviously tired arm throwing 90 pitches. If I was trying to destroy a pitcher that's what I would do. His last 10 starts he has thrown 90 pitches 8 times while his ERA has skyrocketed. We need a major league coaching staff.

Gray's age has caught up to him, he's a #2 in his good games and a #4 in his bad.

SP REEKS!

The easy part would come by firing Oli and his entire staff.
Then hiring a new manager.
Okay, I get that.
However, acquiring talent isn't that easy and it certainly would take more than 30 days.
Remember, you don't have an abundance of money to play with either.
The dEwitt's are confirmed misers.
I don't think the free agent market is that wonderful either.
So, getting a new manager in place might be easy, but the most difficult part would take much longer than 30 days.

Although I’m not a Marmol fan his hands are tied by the GM and ownership. Taylor and or Wilkerson would have to be added to the 40 man roster. If they aren’t added then the only other option I see is moving Pallante to the pen and have Graceffo take his starts.
He has experience as a starter and has pitched some in long relief this year so he should be able to at least get through 4 innings.

There's half a dozen guys on the 40 who could be cut by lunchtime. The 40 man should not be a serious consideration for this.
