I'm all for histrionics from time to time with the hopes it may light a fire.
Yet, I cannot condone the bat toss. Wreckless behavior and there was no justification for it.

Once again, in no way am I condoning what Willson did, but like I said the home plate ump is not innocent in this mess.
I don’t believe Willson told him to eff off, and that’s what set him off because the ump claims he did. Willson deserves whatever the league gives him, but the umpire should also be fined or suspended if indeed, Willson never said what the umpire claims to have heard.

Seems like the ump precipitated the incident?
No excuse for that.
Then Contreras grossly overreacted.
No excuse for that either!

Just can’t get to NY for a hearing.
They surely don't hold hearings in person in New York do they? I believe that they used to, as NY is where the Commissioner's office is/was. It is my memory that hearings were heard when the teams came to NY, and if suspended they would miss games against either the Yankees or Mets, depending what league they were in.
Other teams complained that the two NY teams always had the benefit of facing teams with suspended players, so they changed the procedure. Does anyone else remember this?

He got off pretty light in my opinion, he appealed it and will probably get it down to 4 or 5 games, Does he loses salary for those days?
Agree and Cardinals don't need player like him,
I remember getting blasted a couple of months back when I said he wasn't a good signing. Most on here thought he was a piece to build around. Look at his career numbers. He's only a good player, not anything to build around. I doubt anyone will own up but.....

Doubt they do.
I always laughed when people would make the point about suspended players. Want if they [shirt]ty players got suspended- Pallante unavailable this trip due to suspension. Disadvantage ny!

He claims he told the ump to call that pitch a strike for the Cardinal pitchers too, because he hadn’t been doing so. He may not have used those exact words, but that’s basically what he says he said! Oli seemed to back him up on that.

It is too bad that the Cardinals are unable to void Contreras' contract based on his assault on Brant Brown.
Why would you want to void his contract? What is with people wanting to shed salary for an owner that already will have shed $70M in salary in two years? Contreras has an .823 OPS as a Cardinal.

His reputation got him tossed and getting on the wrong side of umpires hurts the team.

LOL he’s virtually their only hitter. Seems like pattycakes would be more your speed.
Did you say [shirt] like this when Gibson stormed the opposing dugout, throwing punches?
"he’s virtually their only hitter". Screwball, evidently, you've been blind to Burleson's hitting, lately.
Do you know what the word “virtually” means?
He literally does not.
