Hey idiot:
Armstrong: “We had 92 points (in 2023-24); this (past) year we had 96. I hate doing math in public, but that's about five percent. I think if we do that again next year, that gets us close to 100 points and that's where we want to go.”

With Montgomery the coach for the whole year, I think they easily win 2 more games.

Well I for one am stunned that you have something negative to say. Stunned I tell you.

The lack of originality is draining. Try harder.

I think the Blues could have brought back the same team and got 5% better so I'd kind of lie to see us do better than that.

Get your cataracs removed and new glasses then you might be able to see more clearly. 🙂
People expressing no opinion will be recorded as a NO vote.
My opinion is you are a complete, desperate idiot. So, yes they will be better this year.
Quit wasting your time and get to a psychiatrist as soon as possible.

Many many years ago I accepted that the playoffs are a different sport almost than the regular season.

Therefore I do not care the number of "points" the team collects in the regular season, therefore I can't imagine caring enough to predict how many regular season thingys they do. What I care about is winning in the playoffs. Five percent better is Armstrong saying this is a team good enough to win a round this upcoming season and hopefully will surprise people being better. I never think of how many points the Blues had in the prelims when they won the Cup. It was 99 but who cares.

I will be disappointed if this team doesn't win a playoff round.

This is a very fair take. It’s what I’d like to see as progress too.

That said, the Central will be a beast and who knows what that 1st round matchup might look like, how each team is playing come April, injuries etc. But high level, winning a playoff round should be the expectation going into the season IMO.

Exactly, so thus "predicting" whether they will or not = guessing right as to whether they win whichever matchup. Even if I guessed right, it's a guess. The difference between last year and this year is last year I had zero expectations and this year I do. We are all mostly in the same spot with this team. It's like waiting for the Incredicoaster at Disneyland. We have been waiting in the snaking line, now we are in the coaster and about to blast off and go on the ride of another window opening hopefully.

I think 5% is just a start in how much the OP needs to up his meds.

I’m a ‘yes’ vote

Maybe we will draw Winnipeg again and we'll be 5% better when Helle crumbles this time!

Yes, They will be 5% at least better...

As noted by another person, Montgomery being here an entire season and a pre-season to work on things will be huge.
I understand he has to duplicate performance, but Fowler being here an entire season likely helps the defense
I think Suter helps solidify the middle six more as well..

I understand the logic, but the playoffs can be a wildcard (pun intended). Things like injuries, hot streaks, etc. can happen and sometimes do.
In my opinion, this is year #2 of transitioning. I want a solid season and progress in the gaps that were identified being corrected.

The central is crazy good, but they should make the playoffs. But I have a hard time being overly disappointed if they lose in Rd 1. Of course, my opinion might change as the season progresses. :D

Lets do this i think blues will be 14.6235% better

reasons
1) fowler all year long
2) mailloux
3) Snuggy fresh is better than bolduc
4) holloway is healthy
5) Broberg will take another step forward.
6) better center depth

The blues will do it just to (bleep) you off smellyasssss

Completely agree. For now, I’m good with a goal of winning a round. But will I be disappointed if that doesn’t happen? TBD. Totally depends on how the season goes. I mean, let’s say we’re firing on all cylinders but then Thomas, Parayko and Binner all get injured the last month of the season and they’re unavailable for the 1st round. We then put up a solid fight but lose in 6. That’d be super disappointing but not in an underperformance sort of way. More in a “what could’ve been” sort of way.

But given where they’re at, how the roster looks, who should take steps or at least maintain their current levels, etc, I think a goal of winning 1 round is reasonable. But of course that’s why they actually play the games and so much can happen in an 82 game season and beyond.

sdaltons wrote: 25 Aug 2025 19:25 pm Another thread that's not saying anything. Leaving lots of room for OP to move the goalposts. They finish with 101 points? OP will say they meant playoffs. They win 4 playoff games (a boost that works out to significantly more than 5% improvement!), they will change it to something else.

Until OP lays down the exact criteria that will be used to make the determination, no one should vote.

But I finally got them to do this when they promised to leave if we had success in the playoffs. I asked what would be considered success. They landed on one playoff win. If the Blues won one game, they would go away forever. They won 3 times that. OP is still here. No integrity.
This right here! I love it when fake-(bleep) trolls try to disguise posts/questions as legitimate, when in reality they have no desire to engage in a meaningful discussion on the team, the season, etc. I believe the Blues will be at least 5% better, but that doesn't really mean anything because no matter what happens, the idiot OP will move the goalposts to suit their [shirt]-for-brains narrative.
