You could see just by looking at his numbers, that Fedde had a career year in 2024. But the Cardinals lack any depth of judgment. They are always buying high.
The Cardinals traded a fine player for this turd.
Horrible trade by the Cardinals.
Tommy edman has a .677 ops, his defense isnt his gold glove level by the metrics this year, and his numbers have been dropping crazy after a hot start. Edmans value was at all time low when we traded him too due to forever long wrist injury.
The trade was fine at the time the problem was we should have traded fedde in offseason. He still had value then. We gambled that if he repeatwd he could have even more value at trade deadline. We lost that gamble.
Seriously?

It was a good trade.
They prob should’ve dumped Fedde sooner. Hindsight…
Well they did dump him.
The problem is they lacked any SP depth so they didn’t have the choice to dump him much sooner.

I understand the gamble. The problem is will always gamble wrong. We lose
That's the story of Mo's career with the Cardinals.

Other than a few bullpen arms like Leahy and JoJo, I'm not sure there's a single player who's performance has actually improved under the tutelage of Oli and Blake.
Maybe Donovan?
Hopefully, the nightmare has only 32 games to go.

They should have traded him this past winter. Even for a low-minors prospect (which they could easily have done).

The problem was, in his last season as head of baseball operations, Mo couldn’t bring himself to do a proper rebuild. All he did was reduce payroll, as I’m sure he was instructed to do!, and he couldn’t even do that properly! The whole baseball world knew that Fedde should have been traded, but by all indications Mo didn’t even try to do so. He also did absolutely nothing to clear the log jamb of too many players for the same positions. He should have never been allowed any authority in the construction of the 2025 team.

Just because a player is excess for you doesn't mean you trade him for low value. For one example among many the last few years, excess Grichuk traded for Conner Greene and Dominic Leone.
Leone had an excellent year in 2017 in Toronto before coming to St. Louis. His numbers were: 2.56 ERA, 175 ERA+, 2.94 FIP, 1.052 WHIP, 6.5 H9, 0.8 HR9, 2.9 BB/9, 10.4 SO/9, 3.52 SO/BB. In St. Louis, he did not do as well which seemed to be the way things went for relief pitchers who came to St. Louis.

No offense but that comment concerning pitching depth is a joke. In your heart, do you really think that anybody period could be worse than Fedde was this year from the start? However, they would not pick anybody but chose to send him to the mound and the team had no chance. He then turned around and did the exact same thing with the Braves which was highly and easily predictable. We will never know but based on what McGreevy has done when given an opportunity, it is likely that they did have someone. Finally, they should have stuck with their plans and looked to the youth and not inform McGreevy that he was a backup plan for the staff. Better evaluation and decision making went out the door from game one.

We could have saved the Braves a tryout and a minor leaguer. I guess they don't believe the letters DFA.

Fedde posted an 8.10 ERA over 23 1/3 innings in Atlanta, with an equal number (13) of walks and strikeouts over his five appearances.
Didn’t take the Braves as long as the Cardinals to move on from Fedde.

Pick him up, Moe! It will be just like a late season trade. Remember how you used to say that? Come on, Dude. Let’s hear it again for old times sake. You are such a [fork]ing fraud.
