The Canadiens just acquired RD Dobson, the have #5 OA Reinbacher whos on the cusp, Alexander Carrier and a fringe guy Nathan Clurman all on the right D side. So as has been said both teams dealt for a need from a position of depth. Not really earth shattering. As Montreal feel Reinbacher is the better RD, the Blues feel that Snuggerud is their better forward prospect, with Kryou on the other right side Top 6. Left side is set with Buch, Holloway and Neighbours. So while the Blues could have technically extended Bolduc next season when his ELC is up the Blues will have about $32.8 mil to spend with 9 roster spots open including Holloway, Broberg, Torop, Mailloux, Fowler and Kessel.zamadoo wrote: ↑23 Aug 2025 14:07 pm Good points all around. I forgot about Dobson saying he would only sign on the coast.
So, while I was adamant about getting him, it was never really an option. That said, I'm still fine with the end result and Army's pivot.
I see a lot of people saying Mailloux couldn't crack the MTL lineup, but I'm not so sure that's completely true or as significant as has been insinuated. He was an AHL all-star who was working on rounding out his game. They took Reinbacher #5OA and are leaning on his development after injury has kept him out of games. No one says he can't crack the lineup, and they say he's the better prospect.
I'm more than welcoming more information, but the stats show that Mailloux played 21min in his debut in 23-24 and had an assist, a block, and a hit. He then had 2g/2a, 8 blocks, and 9 hits in 7 games last season, averaging 16min of ice time.
To me it sounds like he just needs to be given an opportunity, which is what we're doing. I look forward to adding some "snarl" to the d-core.

The Blues have seen Bolduc, Mailloux, their new acquisitions, and the looong line,of prospects behind Bolduc. This move may or may not work out but they didn't make it with blinders on.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 12:27 pmThe Canadiens just acquired RD Dobson, the have #5 OA Reinbacher whos on the cusp, Alexander Carrier and a fringe guy Nathan Clurman all on the right D side. The Blues have shown the ability over the last stretch to be able to draft/develop very well (Thomas, Kyrou, on and on,etc) as well target players the Blues feel feel like fill a need (Broberg, Holloway) so I'll sit back and enjoy watching Mailloux grab his opportunity by the horns and excel in STL. And i'll be here to remind every chance i get lolDawgDad wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 13:05 pmThe Blues have seen Bolduc, Mailloux, their new acquisitions, and the looong line,of prospects behind Bolduc.
