Reminds me of Paul DeJong. VERY bright people. Head case.

Batting eye. Swing profile. Pitch recognition. Straight from High School..RamFan08NY wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025 21:30 pm I have often heard from watching the games, what a hard worker JW is. I really find it hard to believe that he either cant be coached, or won't be coached.
With his hand speed, and the raw power that he hits the ball, there is no reason why he shouldn't be a very successful major leaguer. Just mind boggling.

Let’s see: upright stance, as far from the plate as you can get. Can he even reach the strike zone? Looks like the anti-Pujols (who had one of baseball’s best, balanced stances I’ve ever seen).
Is this an old picture, or from this year (I can’t get cardinals games - am blacked out 400 miles away).
Re: Here’s an idea Jordan Walker

But his stance is still weird.

C. Bloom has no skin in the game when it comes to J. Walker (or N. Gorman or A. Pallante or ect....), he's Mo's project.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Bloom cut the cord mid season 2026 if Walker is still struggling.
Too much time has been wasted the last few seasons on "projects".

Jurickson Profar was also a #1... rankings miss a fair amount of the time.bfib wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 00:34 amThis is a true blunder though. This wasn’t just the Cardinals hyping him. This was the #1 prospect in all of baseball at one point.Braund241 wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025 20:56 pmHow many of these unbelievable talents could you say that about. He doesn’t deserve to be on a MLB field right now
Something has went VERY wrong here
I want Walker to succeed, and I sincerely believe the best way for him to succeed is to start next year as an everyday player at AAA.
The only scenario where I think he should make the MLB team next spring is if he both 1) has an other-worldly ST performance and 2) via trade and injury it is assured that he will start every day at the MLB level.

3 quick points concerning Walker - some of which others have shared.3dender wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 09:01 amJurickson Profar was also a #1... rankings miss a fair amount of the time.bfib wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 00:34 amThis is a true blunder though. One, as you point out above, he needs playing time.
294 PA's this year and 178 last year with an undefined role is counterproductive,
He needs to play daily - somewhere.
Two, he has made a little progress recently in staying off of breaking pitches away which is a small positive - but he isn't doing much with the pitches he does offer at.
Three - and in my opinion the biggest issue - he is a complete guess hitter with limited pitch recognition and no ability to adjust.
If he sees the pitch he is expecting in the location he is expecting - he hits it hard.
But he takes far too many hittable pitches because he is so often fooled - or makes weak contact with a late swing.
I am not convinced that can be fixed.

He's book smart Poindexter bright. So was DeJong. It isn't the same as street smart.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑22 Aug 2025 09:41 amYou and I have no idea he's bright.
He should start next year in AA and be forced to prove himself, to make the team.
I have little faith.
