Watching the play I can see how he thought it probably was going to be foul, but still a bad look when you're slumping.

I would still take him over anyone in our lineup.
Your comment of Tucker thought it was probably going foul reminded me of my first year in baseball 10 years old..a teammate bounced one down the 3rd. Base line… he didn’t run either.
Fair ball and thrown out.
Manager yelled ‘why didn’t you run to 1st?
Kid replied. ‘I thought it was going foul .
Manager yelled, ‘. DON’T THINK just run !
After game manager told all of us .. hope you all learned something.. Don’t ever say I thought….
I know nobody on our team ever said that again. We learned.
Good lesson . Good youth coach !
Don't think, just run, is how meatheads are created. How about always think and know that no matter where you hit the ball, you should run.
“It’s the ump’s job to decide fair or foul, not yours!”

Tucker has been in slumping for a while now and in today's 1st game of a doubleheader he went 0-4

Counsell in postgame press conference said 'Kyle is frustrated and the fans are too. We have to take a couple steps backwards to go forward.
He won't play the 2nd game today . We(the coaches ) haven't figured it out and he hasn't able to figure it out either.

Interesting that the Cub fans are on his case .. Doesn't surprise me .. a classic case of 'What have you done for me lately ?
We don't have the money to sign him to a big contract but I'd love to have him wearing birds on the bat.

The St Louis Cardinals organization needs this concept explained to them.

Dramatic much? Resting someone for the second game of a double header is not the same as "benching" someone.

This wasn’t ‘resting’ Tucker from 2nd game of the doubleheader.
At press conference , Counsell said ‘ It doesn’t look great when you are making outs. It isn’t clicking for him . He’s frustrated.. the fans are frustrated . We are going to have to take a step back here for sure. .. give him some days off to reset him hopefully.

Tucker in first 82 games hit .291 with 17 HR .
In last 39 games, Tucker has hit .191 with just 1 HR

Giving him ‘some days off to reset himself’ is NOT a rest from 2nd game if DH. So not being dramatic .. he is being benched for whatever time. mLB Central show on MLB TV on the story this morning . National TV would not be running a story on player being given a rest for Game 2 of a doubleheader. He has been benched.
I posted my thread after watching the Counsell post game media interview.

Fair enough. We'll see when he plays again and how often.

Yeah, Tucker is not in the lineup if Game 1 ofdoubleheader.
Will be interesting to see how long Counsell’s ‘few days off’ proclamation lasts..especially if Cubs lose this opener.
And if doesn’t play in either game today and Cubs lose a pair…oh boy
Struggling or not, a lot of pressure on the manager to put Tucker back out there. Fans would say we are losing regardless so might as well play him.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Cubs are trailing today late in Game 1 that Counsell would pinch hit him with RISP.
Counsell id under the gun in this series.
As I type this, Cubs lead 2-0

Some team is going to overpay him, though. And I have to say I won't be too sad it won't be the Cardinals.

Kyle Tucker is a top ten player in baseball. He’s not hitting now but was a dominant force in the first half. Nobody hits for six months straight. Everyone goes through slumps. I would still be happy if the Cardinals would sign him in the offseason but he can’t carry a team by himself. Adding a Tucker should only be a first step in changes for the Cardinals.
A 39-game "slump" with a BA below the Mendoza line and just 1 HR isn't normal for a supposed "top ten" player. And his team has suffered as a result of his vanishing act.

Wrigley isn't the best place for a LHB. Gets Worse when the wind blows in and becomes exacerbated
when facing LHP as a LHB.
