Bloom has no chance. Not enough talent on hand and not enough chips to build thru trades.
Respectfully disagree.
I believe it is unwise to make assumptions about Bloom until we know how much latitude he will be allowed by DeWitt.
If The Marmot and staff are immediately fired within 2 weeks when the season ends, that will be a positive sign.
If they are not, it will be troublesome.
As for talent, the team is not far away concerning position players.
Super Slo Mo is an idiot at evaluating talent.
If Bloom is more intelligent, he already knows that with Winn, Gorman, Wetherholt, Contreras, Donovan and Burleson (though it may be necessary to trade one of those last two), he has pieces with which to work
If he recognizes that, then all Bloom needs to do is add a proven, productive, ASG quality, prime-of-career, middle order RH bat.
Once that is done, there may be room for either Walker or Herrera - but only if Bloom wants to bet on a surprise from one without any expectations of being a key piece.
Saggese should probably stay as a utility option since he is RH and the organization is shockingly weak in that asset (though Joshua Baez has potential to help change that).
That means Mootbaar, either Herrera or Walker, and possibly Donovan or Burleson are expendable.
Possibly Scott as well - but I would wait until 60 games into 2026 before making that decision unless Church amazes the rest for this season.
With Crooks, Bernal, Rodriguez all behind Pages and Pozo, Bloom has 2 moveable pieces from those 5.
Arenado should never again wear the STL uniform.
Hence and Davis need a new organization.
Plenty of pieces to move.
Bottom line - the lineup is easily fixed.
The more difficult issue is pitching.
Tough to move Gray with a $$$$ owed next year - might as well keep him unless an unexpected opportunity come up.
McGreevy should be OK.
Pallante is toast.
Maybe STL bets again on Liberatore - with Mathews maybe ready to challenge for that same spot.
Gray/McGreevy/Liberatore-Mathews.
That's not good.
Need two more from the outside - at a minimum.
Will Bloom be allowed to obtain the 2 quality starters who are desperately needed?
Is he smart enough to acquire the right ones?
Stay tuned.
