Great movie.

What do I wanna bitchhh about. Two things.

One, Walker on a four game hit streak. And gets benched. But comes in as a defensive sub in the seventh- a defensive sub????? He certainly wasn’t benched for rest?

Not only did he not get a hit, he lost three at bats on the bench. I don’t get that strategy- a defensive sub!

Then Gorman at third. This must be a try out, because consistent ain’t it. The boy is horrible at third. It ain’t rust.

That’s it- two complaints from last nights game. Great win with the Donovan hit in the eighth.

Relax. They put out a LH lineup. It's not like Walker moves the needle. One game

Surely game play isn’t the only play he gets at third. They gotta be working with him between games. He’s getting many off game reps I’d think.

All season we’ve been watching Cardinal players take a third strike. Drives me goofy. Even high school coaches tell you to choke up and guard the plate with 2 strikes. Last night, Saggese did exactly that when he almost threw his bat at a two strike pitch and hit a bloop single to center. That’s what set up Donavan’s game winning at bat.

Contreras seems to take strike three a lot.

Second, I'm just going to copy from my other reply about Norman and say "you're right" BDog:


Was at the game last night and really focused on Norman's defense, something I haven't done since he moved from 2nd base.

Upon further review, I may have been wrong to say have some "patience".

His footwork is pitiful, his throws....well they're right there for everybody to see.

I'd still play him there as much as possible the remainder of this season.

BUT

J. Oquendo really has his work cut out for him next spring even trying to make him a league average 3rd baseman

foot work overall, is not a teach able thing. You can teach footwork around the bases but in free play, it must be a natural physical procedure. Sleeps in the same room as grace and coordination.

1. He came in for an injured Nootbar.
2. Look up the term ‘benched.’ Not starting one game isn’t ’benched.’

Gorman:
1. Obviously there is some rust. I hope he starts most of the rest of the season.

You got me on number one of that the case except, not starting a hot player. Still ride the hot horse.

As for number two. No way. He would be the worst third baseman in recent memory.

No, a good player should be able to sit out ONE game.

But let's use your example: "Hey JW! You're on a 4 game hitting streak. We will keep starting you until you cool off. In other words, better get a hit today, buddy, or you're riding the pine!"

That's good for the psyche, no?
