Can't we call up Church in his place, think he has earned a good long look.

Nate Schwartz of PitcherList wrote a good thread on this in June... here's a key point but the whole thread is worth looking at (his Launch Angle is also significantly flatter, e.g.):Futuregm2 wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 10:00 amHis approach hasn’t necessarily changed, but his biggest change has been launch angle.3dender wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 07:49 am4th year in a row people have been saying that about him. On top of that he seems to have changed his approach this year to get more aggressive, which has made him even worse (increase K-rate, lower BB and OBP). So at this point he's got mental stuff to work through in addition to making sure none of his many, many ouchies are interfering with his swing.
They need to cut bait and hope some team still sees it like you just said it. Rarely has there been a more obvious change-of-scenery guy.
LA
2021: 12.1
2022: 10.7
2023: 7.2
2024: 6.0
2025: 17.7
And his Infield pop up has also gone up dramatically from 8.7% in 2023 and 3.7% in 2024 to 11.2% in 2025.
His chase rate is up a little bit, but still low at 21%. Walk rates and K% are still at good levels.
His average EV a career best. Hard hit% a career best. Barrel% down a tiny bit from last year at 9.3%.

We're currently witnessing Noot's highest chase rate and his lowest out-of-zone contact rate of his career.
His zone swing/zone miss rates have similar trends, but within career norms.
People felt the same about Nimmo at similar ages.Bomber1 wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 08:26 amI’m starting to wonder if Nootbaar will ever have a fully healthy and productive year.An Old Friend wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 07:37 am If he has a fully healthy and productive year, someone will see him as a Brandon Nimmo type of player

Nimmo has played 150+ each of the last 3 seasons ages 29-31
I think it’s strange that you keep trying to bait me and take shots at me regarding Lars Nootbaar. You can stop anytime. You bring me up quite frequently in these threads.Goldfan wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 12:06 pmAn Old Friend wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 11:58 amPeople felt the same about Nimmo at similar ages.Bomber1 wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 08:26 amI’m starting to wonder if Nootbaar will ever have a fully healthy and productive year.An Old Friend wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 07:37 am If he has a fully healthy and productive year, someone will see him as a Brandon Nimmo type of player

AOF, Noot has been on the field more than usual and he’s been bad most of the year…..except for his hot 2-3wks out of the gate.
He’s played in 95games with 1.5mths to go…..should easily surpass 117……and he still hasn’t shown much![]()
He’s your guy…..you had high hopes for Mr NootAn Old Friend wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 12:14 pmI think it’s strange that you keep trying to bait me and take shots at me regarding Lars Nootbaar. I like Noot. I really do. I am happy to have him as my fourth outfielder/LH platoon. We need to have three outfielders that are better all around players than him, though. Three!Melville wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 09:27 amI was first and best to see him for what he is.3dender wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 07:49 am4th year in a row people have been saying that about him. A 4th outfielder LH platoon piece.
I alone have called for him to be traded for the past 4 seasons while there was still a sliver of hope that some other team is as badly fooled as Super Slo Mo and many fans have been.
Lars The Human Sushi-baar.
The idea is always better than the content.
And the content always leaves an empty feeling - and the consumer wanting something of more substance.
