Bullwinkle, you hit the nail on the head! Mozo the Clown has destroyed our farm system as well as botching up the major league roster.

I’ve got to the point where I don’t even pay attention to the hype for the next “can’t miss” Cardinal prospect. It’s sad, really.

That’s not a bad whip, is it. What’s league average?
1.292

The CT fanboys do a lot of that here.

A few of us knew better.

Call him starter or bust AFTER Bloom hires a MLB competent pitching coach and pitching staff and they work with him.

OK, and I’m fine with him playing out the year. But So far he’s done nothing in AA, AAA or at MLB to prove that he belongs on the 2026 opening day roster. Bloom will need to pencil him in at Aaa again to start the year and fill out a full roster with other talent and make him earn it.

We have way too many non-projectable so-called prospects for every one of them too deserve a 162 game tryout. We’re gonna have to make decisions faster, or make them prove it in the minors and force their way onto the roster.

Agreed. It seems that a WHIP like that would produce better results.
That’s what I was thinking. He doesn’t seem to walk more than two per game, thus the whip must be higher for hits per game/inning.
His H/9 is 9.0, which isn’t great but isn’t terrible either. But again he hasn’t pitched much. He gave up 8 hits and 6 ER in his first appearance on April 6. He got sent down. Since the he has given up 23 hits and 6 walks in 28 IP. He’s had 3 bad outings in his last 16 which accumulated 10 of his 14 ER given up in 5.1 IP.

You raise an interesting point.
STL seems to have some uncertainty.
Long viewed as a starter.
Then moved to BP to help cover middle innings upon promotion to STL.
When returned to Memphis he remained in a BP role.
Some in the organization have refenced him as a high leverage, closer type arm.
And yet he is currently relegated to multi-inning long relief role.
His stuff appears better suited for relief, but all sample sizes are small so far in his career.
Bottom line.
STL currently appears to have no specific plan for him at all.

Good post!
And....you did it without “self promotion”!
I look forward to conversing if that continues.

ERA nearly 6.

Is he just a poor man’s Brad Thompson? Am I missing something?
He talks less than Brad Thompson. I'll give him points for that.
Everyone talks less than Brad Thompson.

Out of curiosity, what makes you think that Bloom is going to come in and make changes like this?

His future is definitely in the bullpen.

I've said it before, but he reminds me of a young Helsley. Can throw it through a brick wall, but he'll succeed or fail on what he can develop as secondaries to the fastball. Hels developed a good slider, and an underrated curveball.

Gordo needs to do the same. They can be different from what Ryan did, but he needs another GOOD pitch. That's not negotiable for his success. If he wants to be Helsley-good, he probably needs another above average offering after that.
