I watched the game.craviduce wrote: ↑07 Aug 2025 20:17 pm Fastball was controlled, Change was thrown straight and as a bottom dropper. The Curve and Slider were swing and misses at opportune times.
He was filthy all night.
I still think he could do with a clean up on his shoulder...but if he's doing this 2 games in a row with no set backs? He may avoid the procedure.
Good to see from our #2 prospect...he's labored ALL season
Brilliant!!! And amazing. Nobody knows that song. 1972? off the Dream On album.craviduce wrote: ↑07 Aug 2025 21:33 pmAsk your mama for 15 centssikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑07 Aug 2025 21:18 pmNo issue. Sorry, Dog...I was walking the Dog(s).![]()
From Aerosmith- she broke the needle now she can’t sew; walk-in the dog.
To see the elephant jump the fence
It’s exciting to see him with control and offspeed magic, but, without the velocity, he.isn’t 2024; is he?craviduce wrote: ↑07 Aug 2025 20:17 pm Fastball was controlled, Change was thrown straight and as a bottom dropper. The Curve and Slider were swing and misses at opportune times.

JJ? Weather hot?
They said on thr broadcast last night that his velo had been doen recently, but it was a concerted effort to gain more control. Didn't sound like an injury to me. Although many on here have attributed his velo drop to injury.redbirdfan51 wrote: ↑08 Aug 2025 08:46 am I have heard that Matthews arm isn't totally healthy from some posters. Is this true? He looked healthy last night.
Interesting comparison.imadangman wrote: ↑08 Aug 2025 08:52 am I know this has been potentially health related with Mathews but the way he has struggled reminded me of Shelby Miller his year at AAA. Seemed like a pitcher in a similar spot, we all wanted him to get to St Louis quick but he got to Memphis and struggled all that year until a few good starts at the end. So hopefully that's what we're in line for with Mathews.
There is a serious, anxiety-inducing contrast between the positive things about Mathews that led him to be ranked so highly and the injury/wildness concerns that have led him to get taken off the list.
Wow, hopefully it continues to be that interestingFuturegm2 wrote: ↑08 Aug 2025 08:57 amInteresting comparison.imadangman wrote: ↑08 Aug 2025 08:52 am I know this has been potentially health related with Mathews but the way he has struggled reminded me of Shelby Miller his year at AAA. Miller first 17 starts that year: 77.1 IP 90 H 43 BB 90 K opponents had a .388 OBP against him.
Miller last 10 starts that year: 59.1 IP 48 H 7 BB 70 K opponents had a .253 OBP against him
Mathews first 15 starts this year: 53.1 IP 44 H 48 BB 62 K opponents had a .382 OBP against him
Mathews last 2 starts: 13.2 IP 7 H 2 BB 18 K opponents have a .226 OBP against him
The few innings I watched he was impressive. I shocked at the small crowd.craviduce wrote: ↑07 Aug 2025 20:17 pm Fastball was controlled, Change was thrown straight and as a bottom dropper. The Curve and Slider were swing and misses at opportune times.

Memphis has been doing about 1K in attendance this week, typical early August crowd? I'm not sure about that. They said they expect a lot more this weekend.OldRed wrote: ↑08 Aug 2025 09:06 amThe few innings I watched he was impressive.
