makes me a little nervous though
his misses are no where near the plate
Strategically wild. Remember Jason Isringhausen. Never a dull outing.
I’m not sure being wild is his strategy. Results are what matter though. He got the save.

Wow. That is one heck of an assumption. It is 2025, sir. 2025.
That’s right. I forgot bigotry was in these days.

Denton was really high on him last season
He's got good stuff, just needs to harness it.

I hate that people remember isringhausen this way. From 2002-2005 izzy was actually a good closer who didnt have the problem of putting too many on with whips from 0.98- 1.19 each of the 4 years. He was dominant.
In 2006 his whip skyrocketed and he got name never easy ozzy because he was struggling to get by as he was putching injuted most the season(and eventually went on injured ljst with looper then wainright takjng over)
2007 he went back to being dominant with 1.071 whip.
The in 2008 he had rough year again at first putting too many runners on then later failing to do job.
But the majority of his cardinals career izzy wasnt actually wild yet people remember his tenure by his bad years
Izzy wasn’t “strategically wild” but even in his prime would pitch around batters he didn’t want to face - not a common trait in a closer, but it worked for him.

I don’t recall anyone saying anything about it being cultural but you just about everyone was saying he was a head case and they were wrong he was a very good starting pitcher for several years was showing he was a top of the rotation pitcher until injuries derailed him and the cardinals just did the worst job of developing him throwing him in the bullpen for a couple of years then in the rotation and doubling his innings then when he would get injured they would rush him back and throw him in the bullpen just awful development strategy

His stuff plays, he has over 20” of horizontal movement on 2 seamer at 97-99 with a low arm angle
Tough to square that up

Thank you for proving my point. Martinez was a head case. A white player would have been diagnosed with ADHD.

People said carp was a head case because he was getting fatigued and couldn’t hit anywhere but leadoff your claim is just silly
