I'd DFA Pages (.200 .245 .319 .564)
Callup Crooks
Go w/him & Pozo the rest of the season.
This. Wait for August 14 so we don't lose a year of service for Crooks.

The catching position has been a problem in 2025. It has to improve in 2026.

One catcher plays first 1B because evidently he is too dumb to call a game
One catcher plays LF/DH because he can’t throw out runners
Cards use a 250 pound buffalo at catcher nobody ever heard of to start nearly every game
Call up Jimmy Crooks, the last 6 weeks and give him a run

Agreed. He was helpful but now is time to go.
No future here w/all the catchers in the pipeline.
Pozo is not only the better hitter but has a lower catcher ERA now.
Only thing Pages does better is throw.

Same.
He ain't Yadi and that line is about as bad as Yadi ever looked in his last year. So I don't know why he continues to get a bunch of playing time.
Needs to be DFA'd so Crooks can come up and get the bulk of the playing time.
Yet another of Oli's terrible lineup decisions, he needs to be fired at seasons end.

I knew that date was coming up (that's also when you call JJW up too) but didn't know the exact date.
Crooks needs to get the bulk of the time the rest of the year behind the plate.
If he does well, then he may be "the guy" in 2026 or he could enhance his trade value.

We’ve seen the last of WC behind the plate except for an extreme emergency.
Probably approaching the same situation with Herrera?
And with him I think it’s more about keeping him healthy than issues with his defense?
Crooks appears next in line(September? ST?).
Bernal in 2026?
Rodriguez about 2/3 years out?
I’ll say one thing for Pozo. He’s right there with Donovan/WC/Herrera for who I want at the plate in the clutch!

I have a feeling the Cardinals are going to try Herrera behind the plate again next season and are still holding out hope he’s their primary catcher the next couple of years.
They have a number of better options. Herrera should never catch again unless it’s in an emergency basis.

I would finish the year with Pozo and Pages then gauge the trade market for them in the offseason. Won’t get a lot for either but anything positive is better than DFAing them. Either attach them to a bigger trade as a piece or flip them for a lottery ticket minor league player. There is no need to DFA one now and call up Crooks.
If there is no trade, just DFA one of them in January.

Honestly they have little to no trade value
Pages would bring back a lower level, lotto ticket if that.
DFA Pages now, bring up Crooks and let him handle the bulk of the games.
If he does well, then he could be the guy in 2026 or increase his trade value.
Either way, Pages is dead weight and worthless in a trade.

Rocko wants to DFA everybody. Crooks can be called up in September without DFA'ing anyone.

Nothing is gained DFAing him now. Let Bloom gauge interest in the offseason. He might bring back a low level lottery ticket or be a part of a bigger trade as a small piece.
April 1, 2018 we dumped Breyvic Valera to the Dodgers for a minor leaguer.
July 18, 2018 the Dodgers traded him as a piece to get Manny Machado.
It’s all about proper asset management, not knee jerk reactions of a fan base who is frustrated.

Sure there is something gained, playing time for Crooks!
There is no interest in Pages.
The fact you think he's an "asset" is laughable.
And clearing playing time for a prime catching prospect like Crooks is hardly a "knee jerk" reaction, it's smart asset management.
He's JAG a dime a dozen backup, no hit catcher.
I'd DFA him on 8/15, bring up Crooks and never look back.

Bernal is likely the real future at catcher. So, should we really be concerned about 1 year service time for Crooks? See what they have in Crooks, move Pages back to Memphis, and we can see what we have in Crooks. The reality is, no matter what we have, he is likely the 2026 catcher with Bernal chasing him. I also thought the Cards could have potentially gotten something for Pozo at the deadline. Back-up catcher with a dangerous bat. That would have made room for Crooks immediately on the roster.
The real problem we are seeing with the roster is the redundancy of so many players without true stars at any of the positions except Winn at SS and Donovan at 2B. If Herrera is going to be an OF next year, which I think he will, they need to sort through Nootbar, Herrera, Walker, Burleson and Scott II in particular with Church on the way was well. They could easily trade 2 of those guys during the offseason and still have a logjam in the OF with no answers. I only bring up OF in this thread because of potentially moving a catcher, Herrera, into the OF.

It’s poor asset management for a team not trying to compete. You can call up Crooks I’m a couple weeks and then let Bloom figure it out in the offseason. Plenty worse catchers have been traded.

Disagree 100% but respect your opinion
Pages is in no way, shape or form an "asset".
He's a horrible liability at the plate and a "meh" catcher who's only asset is his throwing.
I high doubt he'd be on many or any other MLB roster.
And Bloom has been watching him since last season, pretty sure he knows he's JAG.
