Brings back some great memories. Need to come back for a float trip. I remember the Huzzah was our family trip of choice. Stopped at Noel Picard's place in Cuba. Have you ever been on the buffalo in Arkansas? Always wanted to try that. If you ever venture over the border, there is some great floating in Algonquin Provincial Park and Woodland Caribou on the Ontario/Manitoba border.
We go to a lesser-known place called Riverview Ranch in Bourbon, MO and float the Meramec River. I've camped at other places and floated the Huzzah, Courtois and Current rivers. All are a great time!
So many great rivers to float in MO, I've never been anywhere else outside the state.

Our go-to back in the day was always the Current River. Wed bus up to the top then float back down to Aker’s Ferry.
Once in a while we would start there and float down to Pulltite but it wasn’t as good of a float.

Huzzah! Great times down there.
Bass Resort is another good spot. Almost got caught in a flash flood there. Got out with about 3 mins to spare. Good times! 😄

I've stayed at Bass River Resort several times, always on the non-family side  It's a great place to camp!

I'm thinking of doing some smoked salmon. It's been a while.
Do you use planks?
I do not. I tear off a sheet of foil and fold it in half and butter it up for each full fillet then place them skin down on the foil. After seasoning I place thinly sliced lemon on the flesh side and then cook them in my Treager smoker with applewood pellets.

Well he is 60 after all. Kind of a weird, personal topic for a poster to want to discuss, but everyone has different interests I guess.

Is this in response to the amount of wins Army has?

Got it. I've used both cedar and maple planks before. Absolutely delicious.

Also have had surprising success using an air fryer for salmon. Crisps it well, excellent flavor.

Do not forget...

The peaches & plums are now ripe & juicy. Get your hiney over to the green grocers and fill your larders. The window is narrow - the peaches taste like softballs 11 months out of the year.

The quality of the chicken is top notch and the parmesean fries are awesome. I don't usually recommend chain restaurants but this place is clucking good!
never heard of em
There's 2 in the STL area and several (14 I think) in Chicago. It's worth a stop if you like wings (bone or boneless).

Same here, netboy. My frat house in Rolla went on a couple float trips on the Current every summer when we were trying to recruit new members.

Worst sunburn in my life — you’d spread your legs a bit in an aluminum canoe and the sun bore down on the tender insides which normally didn’t get direct sun.

And, of course, I’d be a bit anesthetized by a number of cold frosty Budweisers, then hours later when the Bud wore off, you couldn’t hardly walk due to the pain.

Ah, Good times.
