I haven't seen Ralph as much as the other guys but he's got a little bit of Jay Bouw in him from my viewings. He's huge and disrupts plays with his long reach and powerful stride.

If he makes it then it won't be as an offensive burner but he could make a mark breaking up the opposition's transition game and getting the puck right back to our forwards.

He, like Jiricek, is still very raw, IMO.

Can't wait. It'll be non-stop hockey on TV next year at my place!
Fischer will not be there. He’ll be back in OHL Sarnia.
Ahh, thanks for letting me know. I made the assumption he was with Springfield because he played there at the end.
Either way, I'm looking forward to watching Springfield this coming year.
So I guess now I'll have to also get the CHL games.

You know how much the AHL charges offhand for a season’s subscription?
I think it's $150 for an annual subscription.

I had it last year, signed up when the blues were completely awful. The streams were generally good quality and I don’t have any complaints.

Yeah, he was only able to be assigned to Springfield because his OHL season was over.

Would it not be better playing in Springfield against AHL competition for his development experience at this point?

Honestly, no. Good chance he’s not quite ready for it yet and it’d overwhelm him a bit. That and we’re already going to be having Lindstein and Burns joining Springfield for adding a 3rd lefty d-man rookie would just be too much. It’ll be good for him to be captain of his OHL team again and hopefully grow his game a bit more before turning pro a year from now.

I share Pierre's enthusiasm for Ralph's long term runway. Nobody was paying much attention to Parayko in 2013, which is kind of where Ralph is in his development. Parayko was one of the best curves to be ahead of as a prospect watcher, so I am looking for signs in his play with Michigan State this year. Ralph doesn't have the bomb of a shot, but he has the body type. He has shutdown D written all over him and it's a question of his extra offensive and puck moving attributes. He looked solid at WJC, made simple effective plays. An error here or there but within normal defenseman error range.

Fischer likes being mean the same way Pronger liked being mean "I'm the biggest guy here, my way prevails." Burns's style is blank-faced deniable continuous aggression like Suter or Tucker. I haven't got the feel yet for Ralph's personality in the confrontations but first impression is even keeled/confident.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I've watched and heard more about Burns, so I'm most excited about him at the moment. I loved that draft taking all the trees and am looking forward to seeing Fischer and Ralph make their way through the system. I don't think we're in any rush for them either.

Like the Blues, I really liked Mikkola. I loved his game. Unfortunately, if there was ever a decision to be made, especially in a key situation, he almost always made the WRONG one. While he was solid member of the Panthers defense, he still makes poor decisions, albeit fewer of them. If the better part is Fischer’s decision making, he’ll be a stud.
