All the rest of the window dressing is [nonsense]. It's not why the stadium is half empty.

Play good baseball. Compete. Win. Your fans will be there when they see it happening.
If you say so. But a more modern presentation/vibe ensures future generations stay interested. The Cardinals played like (bleep) last night but my kids had a good time because they were at least entertained.
The only game day experience that StL fans need is a good team.

Bobblehead give aways and cool music and dance and kiss cams are fine. But it's not why fans go to the ball park.

Just win, baby!

Ps Sit in the bleachers on a Friday night and all that other stuff is there. Twenty something's having a good time just like when we were young.

But you need a good team on the field *first*

Nah, they love them. Not every city/fanbase is staid, old, and boring.
Just out of curiosity, what in your mind constitutes a "staid, old boring" fan base? What is the age cutoff?
And you're wrong, by the way. I spoke to several Padres fans near me who felt the same way I did about the uni's. "Happy vomit" was the way one described them, which I thought was pretty funny.
And NEWS FLASH: they were mostly in their 20's and 30's.
Think about the last time you went to Busch Stadium. You heard a guy who’s been the PA announcer for literally 40 years, an ORGAN, more 70s classic rock than you can shake a stick at, etc. If you went on a Friday night you saw the least adventurous City Connect uniforms around, because (as the president admitted), people would revolt if the BOTB weren’t on the jersey. You might have gotten a giveaway, probably a bobblehead or shirt of a player who retired decades ago. It’s a presentation geared toward old people — the kind of people whose user name refers to meeting a player who died 43 years ago.

Now contrast that to what you saw at Petco. Which presentation is more likely to attract a younger crowd? More families? Fans who will be fans for decades?
Point well taken, as we old folks say.

Seriously, you have a valid point. Organ. Classic rock. Bobblehead.
Even I'm sick of it. Mixed with the current team, I'd much rather see them in SD.
And new fans are really needed. So i get it.
(But the uniforms still suck).
And very cool you took your kids to the game.

It took a Cardinals nose dive in July to create that gap.
It took a braves nose dive for the cardinals to win in 2011 although the cardinals were chasing the braves in 2011 the padres weren’t ever really chasing the cardinals
They were on the 29th of June before the Cardinals imploded.
Yea but the cardinals were living on borrowed time anyway anyone who thought the rotation was going to keep pitching the way they did in June was living in a world of make believe. They weren’t ever really that good of a team. They played well above their talent levels for a while but it wasn’t ever sustainable for a full season.
Agreed. or maybe more like aggrieved.

I can't believe anybody buys into this BDW-III Gameday experience nonsense.

If have gone to a game, the quality of your experience depends on whether the team played well or not.

If the team sucks, so does the game day experience. Thats true in any city, including San Diego. The reason that stadium is packed and games are fun for Padres fans is because the team is really good.

Putty a (bleep) team on the field, nothing is going to make the experience at the ball park better.

When was the last time you went with a kid to a game? Or a group of casual fans?

It’s not the old days. People don’t just go to watch a baseball game.

Well they won more games than the cards regardless of how....they have some players that fans are exited to see...they made some deals at the deadline...the fans are excited....

That's fine. There's plenty of fun and good at the ball park. I go with family every year.

Contact the Cardinals directly and tell them what you want to see. If I were them, I'd love to hear from fans like you. If they are ignoring you, shame on them.

But the ball park is never going to fill up again until the team is actually good.

Padre fans are accustomed to losing. Card fans are accustomed to winning.
Padre's are winning; their fans are inflated.
Cardinals are losing; their fans are deflated.

Not to worry. Cards are in a "reset".
First step: 50 years of losing to reset the fanbase.
Second step: They will field a good team and we will all be excited!

Looking forward to my grandkids enjoying that!

He isn't saying it will. Neither a I.
But his point is correct.
It is more than just the game now. People want entertainment.
And I get that's not the way it was.

Nobody is going to spend all that money to take their family to the ball park to watch a bad team in the hot sun.

There are cheaper and more fun things to do with kids in St. Louis.

The club ought to take care of the product on the field. Everything else is easy to add on.

I think if bloom has a 1996 type off season the fans will come flooding back. Not necessarily spending hundreds of millions of dollars but making moves that will excite the fan base and bring in a capable manager cardinal fans want legitimate hope. Not hope that cranny has where throw anything on the field and they like their chances but real hope. If they have yet another runway season bringing back the same players like Lars walker and Gorman letting them play every day hoping and praying they break out yea fans won’t be coming back

You’re right, of course, that winning is what will ultimately fill the place. But that’s going to be a few years. In the meantime, the bread and circuses is critical, and that’s not catering to diehards who will go anyway or a demographic that has already decided they’re NOT going (as we’ve read on the board a thousand times this season).
