I wouldn’t say he’s “marginal MLB quality”. Maybe if he’s your star hitter then your offense is a mediocre one (at best). He’s a good hitter, but he’s better as your 3rd or 4th best hitter (which is where he was supposed to be when we signed him). Unfortunately he’s our best proven hitter right now though.

His defense has started to slip as the season's progressed:

He’s a plus bat.
Up until recently I thought his progression at 1B was better than expected.
Odd....but he seems to make the more difficult plays and screws up the easier ones?
Case in point last night!
His base running is atrocious but then who on the team is a good base runner?

We don't have any good all-around OFs; the starting pitching sucks; the catching is awful; we have a shortstop that isn't hitting (I'll be patient) and NO legit third baseman. Oh, and we just traded most of the relievers.

101 OPS+ isn’t exactly bad, especially for a defense first SS. And he’s got an .846 OPS over 50 PAs since the AS break. Arguing that a 3.3 fWAR player is on the list of problems is like saying Contreras is a MLB marginal talent.

Yeah, I stand corrected on Winn. He's 13th in wRC+ for SS with over 400 AB, but his defense is elite, so it's fine. And he'll improve.
