Nolan is going to have to play much less to open room for some of these guys. Will they do that?
That’s what I was going to say. After mid-August, near everyday lineup should have Gorman at 3B, Winn at SS, Wetherholt at 2B, and Contreras at 1B
Herrera primary DH, part time LF
OF ends up being a mess with playing time needed for Walker, Donovan, Burleson, Nootbaar, Scott, plus Herrera.
Ideally Nootbaar can get some time share in CF to free up the corners a little bit.
Arenado needs to be relegated to pinch hit / defensive replacement most days.
Think Blaze Jordan might be in St. Louis this season? Or maybe more likely next year? He has 182 PAs in AAA this year hitting .298 with an .820 OPS. Guessing not enough PAs to go around though.

If by exciting the fanbase now, you mean the next 60 days then, no there is nothing they can do. If you mean before next opening day, then yes, there is much they can do.
1) Have Chaim Bloom deliver the post season press conference. Mo just makes people mad when he speaks and no one wants to hear what he has to say anymore. Stop making people mad when it is avoidable. These other people just sound better when they speak.
2) At the press conference don't say anything about payroll going forward that isn't true. Under-promise and over-deliver on offseason plans.
3) Fair, or not, replace the manager. If they want to give Cardinals fans something to get excited about, hire Albert, or Skip.
4) Take meaningful steps in the offseason to fix the clunky roster. Fans will recognize the competence in this right away.
5) Stop implying that fans are not doing their part to support the team. Show some contrition and competence- fans will respond well to that.
6) Fix the TV deal. It feels like the team is hiding behind this to torpedo payroll.
These things, taken together, will increase attendance even without increasing payroll. If they were to make some sort of commitment to a larger payroll and follow through, the attendance would be even better.

7) Stop talking about the guys with no trade clauses. They are going to stay and they are going to play. If you are able to trade one of the them, let it be a pleasant surprise. Talking about it (Priority #1, #2, #3...) just frustrates people.

In the Short Term? No
Longer Term? Possibly, provided we internally develop a few Wainos and a Pujols or 2 or 3.
No chance at competing until the DeWitts are Gone!!!
Right. Then a new owner increases payroll to $200 million and there are only 10 teams or so spending more. The market is mid sized. Where do you think the metropolitan area ranks in the U.S.?
When the Cardinals had good teams, they drew fans from Cape, Mt. Vernon, Springfield, Ill, Paducah and other areas withing 150 miles regularly. Has very little to do with metropolitan area and you should know this.

Fire Oli, whether you agree or not a large majority of the fanbase no longer wants Mos stench anywhere near this team. Hire a guy with credibility
Dewitt speaks up and says they will do everything they can to bring this team back to life and get fan interest back. And own up to why things are the way they are now. Gaslighting the fanbase by saying they won’t invest in the team if they don’t get support from the fanbase is only going to drive people away further. Swallow your pride and deflate your ego and cater to your customers
It’s literally that simple.

Agree. Any type of plain statement from ownership that they follow up and make good on would go miles with the fanbase.

Even a FO lover like you realizes that the Cardinals have always and will continue to draw from a lot bigger area than the STL metropolitan area.
Yet you continue to post garbage.

Good post and pretty much agree with everything except # 3.
Replace the manager but please,
Bring in a manager with no ties to the Cardinals.

Happened faster than I expected!

Yeah, there is no way there is room for him unless Contreras gets hurt... and even then, I wouldn't do it.
If Contreras got hurt, just let Burleson play 1B most days with Donovan occasionally.

Continue evaluating the talent, fresh start when the new guy takes over when the season is over.
Winning a bunch of games now would be a disaster for next year.

Yep, I've been saying this since last season and I'm of the folk who used to think Mo haters were batship crazy. Turns out they were right all along. OliMo have run this ship ashore and after a 3rd collapse in 3 years all the goodwill, nostalgia, equity, blah blah blah---gone. The players take a good brunt of the blame (Nado mostly) but plenty more could have been done to avoid this foreseeable disaster and rather than steer for clearer waters, they thought they could slow the sinking until reinforcements arrived.
No one has any faith in these 2 to patch the holes and get us back afloat. Well, no one with a brain that is. Okay I'm out of ship metaphors.

Finishing 6-games above .500 will be an improvement over 2024 and a great improvement considering the current negativity surrounding them. Not giving up and 2-playing leaders steps up, a pitcher and a hitter. They do not have to give up.
