Very disappointing poker play by Mo

Maton will help Rangers
Let's see. The GM tried to get as much as he could, and all interested teams said no. So, he took the highest offer on the table.

Where in that is disappointing poker playing? Have you ever sold anything? Did you have any luck forcing a buyer in to over paying?

This post makes no sense. You can't force other teams to give you what you think is fair value.

You don't know how other teams valued Maton.

The Cardinals got what they can get.
In his first year of pro ball this season Mason Molina has given up 55 hits in 74 innings and struck out 93 across 2 levels. 7th round pick out of U. of Arkansas.

Skyler Hales has made it all the way to AAA this season, his second season as a pro. 4th round draft pick out of Santa Clara.

Pretty good haul for a 2+ month rental.
We shall see.

In my eyes, since Maton was a productive player for the Cards, the only way it can be a good haul is if one, or even better, both guys become productive MLB players.

Would you have rather kept him for 60 days, and not gotten anything for him?

That’s true unless Mo was asking for sky high prices and teams balked and pivoted to other teams players so he ended up having to take what he could get from the teams that were left

No.

But if you don't ultimately receive productive MLB player(s) for the productive player you gave up then how can you consider it a haul for the major league team?

Which reporting brought you to this conclusion?
