3.14 is not ideal
Is 22/7 better?
Sure 3.14285. Win

D+. Based on what was not done. Not going to harp on Arenado that was a tough situation. But he should have cleared way on the roster. No value but combined with some of the trades for Siani, Baker, Fermin.
They probably missed opportunities on a player like Burleson who is now being described a core player. What a joke? I was also hoping they would let Noot go another so called core player.
Obviously this whole year is a waste as Mo put himself in a lame duck position. He supposedly tied his hands to give Bloom freedom to make moves. If so why not have Bloom go ahead and call the shots. I’m sure he can multitask. Basically we have accomplished nothing in this year of the “reset”. It is obvious their reset extends for the 3 to 5 years.

about all we could expect for 3 rentals IMO
how would you like to be fans of the Twins, Orioles and D'Backs?
those 3 teams' rosters were decimated in the last two days.

personally I was expecting ohtani or judge...silly to pass judgment on anything today because NOBODY here has a clue...some of the guys acquired could become contributors maybe none do...fact is the cards are going nowhere this year and all of the people traded had no future with the cards so lets wait and see

Fair...but the question was, as of today what's your initial grade? Obviously none of us know the outcome of any of this. Could be solid, could be an absolute bust. We can only discuss what we think as of today

C/C-
Right in the mediocre middle, Dealt Fedde, Hels, Maton Matz, but left Nado, Donny, Noot, Romero. Half-a*ssed and incomplete. Moe the clown's specialty

I’m not terribly disappointed with it.
Imagine being a Cubs fan (ok I know, I know) and being in a playoff hunt with the Brewers and your pick ups are Soroka, Willi Castro, and Andrew Kittredge.

+1 the sustained mediocrity approach

C+... we have a much deeper minor league now, so that's great. I wanted Romero and Pozo traded and one of Donovan or Burleson traded. I also wanted Nado gone.

The Cardinals opened up 3 spots for their 40-man roster . That's important as the Cardinals have a few minor leaugers who are Rule 5 eligible that we need to protect that are not currently on the 40-man. Case in point, C Bernal needs to be protected .
So Mo gave Bloom some better flexibility . Also added depth to minors which later can be trade bait too.
Good point about the 40 man roster.
We knew Arenado and Mikolas weren’t going because of the NTC’s.
The primary focus heading into 2026 will be the rotation.
The Cards still have excess depth with LH bats.
And more on the way(JJ and Crooks)
They didn’t open up 40 man spots that weren’t going to be there anyway. Matz contract was ending and was not going to be resigned and his spot would have been there. Helsley is a FA and was not going to get the contract here that he would get on the open market so his spot would have been there. Maton also had an expiring contract and was not being resigned, unless he was willing to come back on a 1 year/2 million dollar deal again. Yes the spots are open now but they were going to be open anyway at the end of the season.
40 man spots will be needed but we have junk at the bottom of the 40 man plus these guys were leaving anyway. Mikolas spot will be there also. It wouldn’t have been difficult to come up with 7-8 spots minimum.

Ok so they should have held onto the pending FA’s?????

It's truly an incomplete grade, but for grading sake, I'll give it a B-. They moved 3 RPs, on expiring contracts, who with their new teams "might" pitch a combined 40 innings from now to end of season. For those who thought they should have gotten more, I disagree with you. All 3 players would have moved on after season, and they appeared to get a few higher ranked prospects. I'll remain optimistic.

I don't usually judge trades until a few years down the road. Broglio for Brock and Bottenfeld for Edmonds were exceptions.

It was a boilerplate deadline. They traded who they were expected to and no more. Since they didn't unrealistically cling to playoff hopes I'll go with a C+. Bloom has the offseason to clear redundancies, or they may ride it out next year and wait for the new CBA.

Absolutely no credibility.
