Why would he sell the the franchise?
Judging by his actions the last few years, he seems to be in over his head financially in being able to invest what it takes to compete for a championship.
This is finally being reflected in the attendance, as it is no longer open the gates and the fans open their wallets.
It seems we've almost come full circle with this ownership. AB got real cheap at the end of their tenure and Jr. seemed like a breath of fresh air when he came in. He signed some free agents (like Ron Gant) to show fans things would be different under his aegis. But neither DeWitt nor MLB are in the same place now as in 1996.
It would be best for the city, the fans, ownership and his family if he sold.

when the fans come back
is google true?
Shared Local Revenue: Under the 2022 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), each team contributes 48% of their local revenues (including ticket sales, local media, concessions, parking, and sponsorships) into a pool. This total pool is then split equally among all 30 teams, resulting in each team receiving an estimated $110 million USD or more from this shared pool.
National Revenue Share: In addition to local revenue sharing, teams also receive a share of national revenues, which primarily come from broadcasting contracts and licensing agreements. This share is estimated to be around $90 million USD per team.
Therefore, in total, each MLB team receives a significant amount from the league headquarters, estimated to be around $200 million or more from these two revenue sharing mechanisms.

-- Crav are you ready to run the minor league system?

Bill jr has yet to come to terms that it is no longer the 90s. He still believes that any contract over 6 years and/or 200 million will absolutely destroy a team, not is just the modern day standard for good players. It’s what old people do. Still think the old way is better and always will be.

Augie Busch never did come to terms with the post-union, post-free agency world and the team he put on the field suffered for it, particularly in the last years of his ownership. Again, it seems we are coming full circle now with DeWitt longing for days that are not coming back.
