More like the Reds helped the Pirates. I'm not sure how the guy is still in the league.

Wow. Pittsburgh thought so highly of him they locked him up. Now he's so bad they can't put him on the field? This is more about cutting payroll before the CBA I think. Or just Pittsburgh being Pittsburgh.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if suddenly KBH becomes a .750+ OPS player like 2023 in that ballpark away from that poverty franchise. That's still a pretty average hitter, but at least it brings his contract out from underwater to fair value.
